Klamath Falls, Oregon Assisted Living Community
This is the promise that the staff at Emeritus at Eldorado Heights - and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities - has shared since 1997, when our community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful - a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our residents who have chosen our assisted living community.
The Perfect Location
Emeritus at Eldorado Heights is located in the beautiful town of Klamath Falls, a small farming and ranching community of 30,000 bordering Upper Klamath Lake – the largest natural lake in Oregon. Klamath Falls sits in the Klamath Basin, at the base of the majestic Cascade Mountains, and just south of Crater Lake National Park, a favorite with our residents. Sky Lakes Medical Center is right behind our community, offering virtually every type of healthcare service, from diagnostic imaging and wound care to cancer treatment and emergency services. Crater Lake Parkway – a major thoroughfare – is just below us, providing easy access to shopping, restaurants, medical offices, churches and to Marquis Care at Plum Ridge, which offers skilled nursing, rehabilitation and long-term care services.
With so much going on right here in the Klamath Basin, we’re able to offer a wide variety of off-site excursions. We occasionally take the quick one-hour drive north to Crater Lake National Park, the deepest lake in North America, where in the summertime, residents enjoy a drive around the rim and tour of the Steel Visitors Center. We visit our local country fairs, take in parades during the Fourth of July and enjoy weekly shopping outings to our nearby Super Wal-Mart. Residents also love to visit Moore Park, at the south end of Klamath Lake, which is considered one of the premier birding spots in the world. It’s not uncommon to see bald eagles, snowy egrets, green herons, hooded mergansers and all kind of warblers. There are also several great restaurants located within just a few blocks from our community.
A Wonderful Selection
Our two-story community offers 60 senior apartments, including traditional studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. Each apartment includes kitchenettes with a full refrigerator, microwave, sink and cabinets; a very large wheelchair-friendly bathroom with walk-in shower; large windows; wall-to-wall carpeting; and an emergency call system. Our month-to-month rent also includes apartment maintenance, weekly housekeeping and linen service and all utilities except telephone and cable. All apartments have lovely views, either of surrounding wooded areas, Mount Shasta, Klamath Basin or of our beautifully landscaped courtyard. Residents are welcome to bring in their own furniture and can decorate their apartment in any way they wish – one of our residents brought in a pair of deer horns to display on his wall! And as a pet-friendly community, small pets are also welcome to join our family.
Emeritus at Eldorado Heights offer several common areas, including a very spacious two-story dining area with large windows overlooking our landscaped back courtyard. The courtyard offers trails for walking, outdoor seating areas and barbeque. We also have a large multi-purpose activities room, where residents enjoy games, arts and crafts and movies. Resident meetings are also held here. On the second floor is a spacious balcony area where residents put together puzzles and play games. In addition, we offer a large private whirlpool therapy room, and free laundry facilities on both floors.
Strong, Caring Relationships
For those residents who need rehabilitation services, such as physical, occupational or speech therapy, we always welcome medical specialists into our community – just as if the resident was still living in his or her own home. We can also coordinate hospice care in the event a resident needs around-the-clock assistance. However, many of our residents require little additional medical services. We attribute this to our strong family-oriented atmosphere, which we believe is the reason our residents tend to be healthier and live longer. While the average stay nationally at an assisted living community is just two years, many of our residents have been here for ten years and are still active and going strong!
We are one of the only communities in the area with a full-time Registered Nurse on staff. She oversees our Medical Technicians, who provide medication management, an especially important service for our diabetic residents. Our Resident Assistants handle most of the assistance with daily living, from providing escorts to dinner and activities, to helping residents with bathing and dressing. They are well loved by our residents and are often in their apartments several times a day, offering the kind of care a son or daughter might provide. All of our 30 staff members pitch in to serve residents at mealtime before sitting down to eat with them. Many of our staff members have been at Eldorado Heights for several years, including our Executive Director who has been here for the majority of the time our community has been opened.
