Biloxi, Mississippi Senior Living Community
A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
As we age, we don’t lose our taste for good food, interesting experiences, family and laughter, or our desire to live in a comfortable, attractive home. After all, these are the things that make us who we are, and keep life vibrant and exciting. Emeritus at Biloxi has its own Life Enrichment Director, whose only job is to find new social, recreational and cultural activities for our residents. Life stories help our Life Enrichment Director understand each resident’s interests and hobbies as a basis for choosing activities. Our community is designed to be a home, warm and inviting to both residents and their family and friends. We feel that if our residents can live well, they can better enjoy their lives.
Join Their Journey provides many one-on-one activities that we do with residents to help promote memory. We also have a wide range of group activities, which helps stimulate residents in a different way by giving them opportunities to socialize. Join Their Journey pays particular attention to making sure all activities are geared to the ability of the residents and their stage of memory loss – and that all residents are able to participate in some form of activity.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
We nurture strong relationships with local area hospitals, like Memorial Hospital, Biloxi Regional and Garden Park Medical Center. The area also hosts several medical clinics with a diverse offering of health-care providers and specialties.
Located right on site in our community, we partner with a local rehabilitation provider, which provides physical, occupational and speech therapy. We can also coordinate rehabilitation, skilled nursing care and hospice care as needed.
At Emeritus at Biloxi, we are committed to delivering the highest standards of care and service to our residents and their families. All of our caregivers undergo extensive ongoing training. Their skills and knowledge encompass the aging process, accident prevention, communication techniques, infection control, and how to manage disruptive behaviors. They also attend an intensive two-day training for our memory care program, Join Their Journey. All employees understand the changes and challenges that occur with age, and with memory loss.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Not only is “Our Family Committed to Yours,” we also believe “Our Community is Committed to Yours.” Local community projects give us – and our residents – a true sense of purpose and connection. We want to participate in meaningful community service projects, and continue to discover ways to give back to others in our community.
Emeritus at Biloxi has an experienced dining service director on staff who prepares three delicious homemade meals every day, including multiple menu choices for every lunch and dinner.
Lunch and dinner meals offer a salad and soup to start, followed by a main entrée and dessert. Meals are served on fine china in a restaurant-style atmosphere so that residents can enjoy conversation with their company at their table while enjoying an exceptional culinary experience.
Our memory care neighborhood hosts its own dining room. Three meals and three snacks are provided daily. This allows us to provide smaller portions throughout the day to combat weight loss problems – a key issue for residents, who because of their memory loss, often feel fuller faster, get distracted more frequently and tend to walk and wander a lot. Our menu can accommodate a wide variety of dietary choices and needs including soft and pureed.
