Mesa, Arizona Memory Care Community Lifestyle
A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
Our activity calendar is designed to keep our residents active, social and healthy. We enjoy getting physical with Joints in Motion, stimulating our minds with trivia, or having fun listening to our weekly entertainers at happy hour. We are proud to have an amazing and highly experienced life enrichment director who has been with our community since 2000. She has created a remarkable program for our unique population of memory care residents.
Our program allows our residents to participate in many choices of social, physical, mental, spiritual, cultural and creative activities that are encouraged by our caring staff members. Our activities program enables residents in all stages of memory loss to keep their mind stimulated and bodies active.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
We are passionate about being a resource for our local community. Our focus is to host events that add quality and value to the lives of others. We hold an Alzheimer's/dementia support group that meets the last Monday of every month. We also provide educational seminars that are open to the public to offer help with health issues and financial support.
We are frequently partnering with local organizations to find ways to give back to the community. We have worked with local churches doing food drives, the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk, and the Area Agency on Aging on a summer fan drive for those seniors without air conditioning.
Our dining services program has an intimate and homelike atmosphere with smaller dining rooms tastefully coordinated and managed by a dedicated, well trained staff. We often host barbecues, holiday dinners and seasonal parties. We are dedicated to those with memory loss and their special needs. Our menus are based on the food pyramid for older adults as well as resident preferences and seasonal foods.
Because sitting down to a large, full meal can be overwhelming to someone who suffers with Alzheimer’s disease, we offer residents smaller portions several times a day for optimal nutrition. Our “six mini meal program” consists of three meals and three “snacktivities” every day. Additionally, we have alternative meal options available and an assortment of snacks available any time.
We are blessed to have Melinda Hull who has perfected her craft working in a variety of fine dining, buffet and catering, family dining, and health care establishments. She has had many wonderful opportunities that translate into 25 years of experience. Fifteen years ago, after a single visit to Arizona, she enjoyed the lifestyle so much that she decided to move across the country and become a part of the Emeritus family as the dining services director. Being part of the Emeritus family has allowed her to enhance the dining experience for our residents and most importantly, improve their quality of life.
