A Campus Community
Our beautiful campus community has it all: a picture-perfect valley setting with views of the surrounding hills, farmland and our own pond right on our property; extensive walking paths throughout the campus; the convenience of being just minutes from downtown Bridgeport; and the option to receive the full continuum of care as needed. One campus – three communities – enables residents to easily transition from independent living (Maplewood) to assisted living (The Meadows) to long-term care (The Heritage) – all while remaining in familiar surroundings and cared for by the same dedicated and compassionate staff.
The Perfect Location
Our campus is conveniently located in North Central West Virginia, on Route 50 East just east of downtown Bridgeport. Fairmont, Grafton and Clarksburg are within easy commuting – and CKB airport, which offers flights to Pittsburgh International Airport, is just a mile from our community. Within just 10 minutes are the Bridgeport Mall, Emily Drive Shopping Center, several restaurants and the East Point retail outlet – all favorite shopping destinations. In fact, we frequently take residents on outings to local shopping areas, as well as on day trips to Morgantown, Charlestown and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We also take residents to their doctor’s appointments three days a week. In addition, the newly built United Hospital Center – and access to I-79 – are just 10 minutes from our campus.
A Wonderful Selection
Maplewood and The Meadows, our independent and assisted living communities, are located in the same stately Colonial-style building.
Maplewood, our independent living community, offers a variety of one- and two-bedroom floor plans that all include spacious wheelchair-accessible bathrooms, showers with safety handrails and emergency call systems. The apartments also have a full kitchen, ample closet and living space, and either a walkout patio or balcony. The Maplewood common areas include an exercise area, a cozy den with a fireplace, a spacious lobby, a bar area where we hold our daily Happy Hour, a beauty salon and a dining room.
The Meadows, our assisted living community, offers 44 apartments and its own spacious dining room. Its beautiful outdoor areas – a memory garden that surrounds the building, patios, a shuffleboard court and extensive walking paths that encircle our campus – give all residents a variety of places to enjoy the out-of-doors.
The Heritage, our long-term care community, has deep roots and an outstanding reputation in the Bridgeport area. It is located on the same property and provides for the long-term care of residents in need of 24-hour nursing services. Both private and semi private rooms are available. This small community feels much more like home than the traditional nursing home setting, with bright colors, comfortable furniture and windows overlooking the surrounding countryside. From the windows, it’s not uncommon to see all kinds of wildlife – deer, turkeys, squirrels and birds – that make their home in this region of West Virginia.
Our Staff
Many of the staff members working in our three communities have been here for years. In fact, some of the Heritage caregivers have taken care of residents for 15-plus years! All staff members are well trained and extremely compassionate, caring for residents as if they were their own family members. Their dedication comes through loud and clear; they know each resident by name and often know many of our residents’ family members.
Our wonderful chefs also exemplify the dedication that our staff is known for throughout the area. They are always concerned with making sure residents love the food they serve and constantly ask for feedback. They also serve on the Food Committee and strive to make meals requested by residents. It’s not surprising that residents often tell us how much they love our food! The Life Enrichment Director at Maplewood has been here for more than eight years and prides herself on offering a wide range of activities to appeal to all different interests and abilities. From our housekeepers to caregivers to the concierge who has been here for more than five years, every staff member is passionate about what they do, and it shows in the way they take pride in their jobs and how they care for each resident with dignity, respect and humor.
