Assisted Living

"We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do."

This is a simple promise that the staff at Chesterley Meadows—and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities—has shared since our community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful—a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our retirees who have chosen our community for its active lifestyle.

The Perfect Location

Emeritus at Chesterley Meadows is conveniently located right off Highway 12 on the edge of a lovely residential area. Spacious Chesterley Park is just next door – and several major stores, including Fred Meyer and BiMart, are in the local vicinity. Our community is also equi-distance from Memorial Hospital and Yakima Regional Hospital – and a skilled nursing facility is a quick two-minute drive.

From our community, residents have views of Yakima Valley, with its rolling hills and Yakima River. Occasionally, we take scenic drives up into the hills, where we stop by the elk station and feed the animals. Other terrific destinations – Maryhill Museum on the Columbia Gorge, local wineries and Dairy Gold – are among our residents’ favorite day trips. We’ll also take residents on longer trips – the Cle Elum tour, tour of the murals in Toppenish and to a huge flea market in Packwood, on the west side of the Cascade Mountains. Residents just let us know where they want to go, and as much as possible we’ll take them there!

A Wonderful Selection

Our three-story community offers 70 assisted living apartments, ranging from studios, deluxe studios and one-bedroom units. All of our apartments are light and bright and include a private bathroom with walk-in shower, safety rails, an emergency call system and wheelchair accessible sink. In addition, our apartments feature a kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator and microwave. One side of our building offers park views; the other, courtyard views. Our deluxe studios have a corner layout with extra large windows and a spacious open area.

Several common areas are available for our residents’ use. Our coca-cola room looks like the real thing, with old-fashioned ice cream fountain décor, a checkered floor and red and black bar stools, along with a full kitchen. Families often have private gatherings here – as well as in our private dining room. Our TV room offers a large-screen television, where we show movies and residents play Wii. Our intimate and cozy fireside room on the first floor is the perfect spot for relaxing on winter days. A spacious, light and airy dining room has a vaulted ceiling that opens onto the second floor. Each of our three floors also has its own quaint sitting area. The courtyard area out back offers raised vegetable and flower beds that residents are welcome to tend.

Our single-level memory care neighborhood features 14 private apartments and 2 units with double occupancy. Each shares a bathroom and shower with another apartment. An absolutely gorgeous great room with huge ceilings and spacious windows is the center of our community and the location for most of our activities. The great room looks out onto a secured walking courtyard, where residents can enjoy the out-of-doors in a safe, supervised environment.

Strong, Caring Professional Relationships

There are many agencies within the Yakima area, all of which are welcome to come into our community to provide the full range of services our residents may require, from physical and occupational therapy to hospice, home health and vision care. Our nurses are delighted to coordinate these services for our residents. But of course, it’s always up to the resident and/or family member to choose whomever they’d like to use. We can make recommendations as well, such as Mountain View Home Health – one of our most popular providers with whom we work frequently. No matter which agency or provider that comes into our community, we make sure that we keep in close communication with their staff, so that we are always up to date on the resident’s health status. Written notes of each visit are also included in the resident’s chart.

Our Staff

Compassionate, committed, honest, helpful – these are just a few of the words that our families and residents use to describe our staff. Perhaps that’s because our staff truly goes above and beyond. Whatever a resident needs, they make sure those needs are taken care of. There’s no shortcuts taken; we’re here to provide all of the services outlined in the care plan, and each of us is accountable for our actions. We truly are dedicated to our residents and their families – and believe it comes shining through in everything we do. It’s not surprising that we have a group of caregivers who have been with us for at least two years – some as many as seven. They stay because of our team-oriented family atmosphere at our community, where residents truly are part of our extended family.

Our community also has three full-time nurses, including a dedicated registered nurse for our memory care community and two nurses, one of whom is our Wellness Coordinator, for our assisted living community. Our nurses are responsible for coordinating our residents’ care and for monitoring their needs. For example, if a resident had surgery and needs wound care, it’s our nurses who would make sure home health comes in and provides the appropriate services. In addition, our memory care staff has undergone extensive Join Their Journey training, which helps ensure that residents are always treated in a respectful, honorable way.
