A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
What better way to spend your retirement years than living right by the water in a wooded setting with all of the wonderful amenities that Ocean Shores, one of premier retirement communities in Washington state, has to offer? Here at Emeritus at Harbour Pointe Shores, we have it all: a waterfront location, a natural park-like setting that’s home to all kinds of wildlife, and a warm, inviting and homey atmosphere. We also go the extra mile whenever needed.
Most of our residents come from Ocean Shores, so our neighbor, the Ocean Shores Community Club, helps them keep active beyond all of our in-house programs. Those of our many residents who own property here, or whose family members own property locally, are able to take full advantage of its amenities at the Community Club. These include an indoor heated swimming pool, saunas, spa, changing rooms with showers and lockers, gymnasium, fitness center, meeting room, TV room, outside deck and play areas, game room and a cafe with free wireless Internet service. In addition, the Community Club offers a variety of recreational activities for members and their guests, including fitness classes, hobby clubs, special events, group travel opportunities, luncheons and much more.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Our community relations director is an ambassador with the local Chamber of Commerce, and frequently works with them to set up various public events at our retirement community, our goal is to have one event every month. For example, we host a “business after hours” or wine and cheese reception. In addition, the public is always welcome to our open houses, during which we provide tours, refreshments and door prizes. Community members are also invited to come by for a tour any day of the week, including weekends. Emeritus also partners with Elder Resource Benefits Consulting, a free service that we provide to our veteran residents or their surviving spouse to help make sure they can receive any additional financial assistance for which they are qualified.
Fine Dining
Our dining services director/chef has been here several years and prides herself on preparing three delicious and nutritious home-cooked meals each day. Sometimes she offers basic down-home cooking – spaghetti and meatballs or roast beef with all the fixings — and other times it’s more gourmet, like Rosemary Chicken or specialty pizza.
Residents always have a choice of either a main entrée or an alternative. All meals are served restaurant-style. At dinner, for example, our wait-staff first serves juice, then salad, followed by the main dish and dessert. It’s a fancy four-course meal every day. Breakfast is also very big with our residents. They can choose just about anything, from egg dishes made to order and hot and cold cereals to fruits, juices and meats. All of our food is diabetic friendly, and we can accommodate other dietary restrictions such as low-salt and even Vegan! It’s not surprising that we often overhear residents saying, “This was the best meal I’ve ever had!”
