A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
With varying resident interests and hobbies, our Life Engagement Director works on developing a schedule of events based off the input and interests of our residents. Events may fluctuate during the seasons; as residents enjoy gardening in the raised flower beds during the summer months or participate in planting vegetables in the “Community Gardens” in town, concerts in the park and fishing trips, casino trips to name a few.
Guest speakers or exercise programs such as the “pedometer walking club” are scheduled to promote resident mobility and strengthening. While Performing Arts or displays at the Grant County Fair or local museum display resident or grandchildren art. Monthly, “grandkid craft night” is scheduled and residents participate in teaching children how to complete the craft, while socializing and enjoying family time. During the winter months residents participate in a Christmas carol group, jewelry making, pinochle, card games, events at the Senior Center, baking classes to name a few.
Both staff and residents are encouraged to participate in holiday planning, each Halloween a community theme is chosen and all are encouraged to dress the part. A resident theme of Wizard of Oz was chosen with a slogan of “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there is no place like Moses Lake Senior Living Community”.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Moses Lake Senior Living Community is an extension of each resident. Knowing each resident comes from a varied profession, service group or religious background. Our level of participation may vary; it may range from being the host location for a presentation, to residents putting together Candy Grams for the Parent Teacher Association, to driving the members of the Chamber of Commerce around to observe local art displayed by local artists, to a pajama fundraiser for children of domestic violence, or ways to support our local Humane Society . We eagerly look for ways to engage our residents into community events and to support Grant County as a whole. We look forward to giving back to the communities and the residents that allow us to be part of their lives.
Food plays a significant piece in each of our lives. Knowing each resident has a diverse background and varying preferences we at Moses Lake Senior Living Community invite residents to be active in their food choices and planning. Residents are free to order from the daily menu, or from an “Anytime” menu for each meal. Monthly residents participate in a Monthly Food Council, assisting in meal planning and bringing in family recipes. The staff are eager to dress for the occasion of special “theme-meals”, or residents eager to assist with shucking corn for summer corn on the cob. So whether you crave rich BBQ Cheeseburgers, prefer a Potato Bar with all the fixings or a more formal type of meal- we encourage you to jump in and put your taste buds to the test!
