Emeritus at Steel Lake is conveniently located close to I5 and Hwy 18 and is within walking distance to shopping, parks and transportation. The Commons Mall in Federal way is close by as well as many other shopping areas and a wide variety of restaurants. We are within walking distance of Steel Lake Park featuring a lake for swimming and fishing, playground, picnic area and walking trails. The Federal Way transit center is just 2 blocks away. Emeritus at Steel Lake is centrally located to a wide variety of medical clinics, doctors’ offices, St. Francis and Auburn Regional Hospitals.

Emeritus at Steel Lake is set on 3 acres with beautiful landscaped grounds and enclosed outdoor common areas. We offer 101 apartments on 3 floors with floor plans ranging from studio apartments to two bedrooms, two bath apartments, some with vaulted ceilings and balconies. Emeritus at Steel Lake has many indoor common areas with fireplaces to help you stay warm on cold days. A private dining room is available for your personal special events and there are several large areas for activities and socialization with other residents.

With its family-friendly atmosphere, Emeritus at Steel Lake feels like home the moment you walk through the doors. Our common areas – including our lovely dining room, library and TV room – give residents and their loved ones the opportunity to get to know one another. We also offer a wide range of activities each month, including shopping trips and scenic cruises. Emeritus at Steel Lake is conveniently located in an urban area, near Federal Way Commons Mall and Steel Lake State park. Several medical facilities are also close by, including St. Francis Hospital and a nursing home rehabilitation facility if ever needed.

Our Staff

Our community is fortunate to have many tenured staff members, ranging from 4 to 8 years, who are committed to making the difference for the seniors we serve. At Emeritus Senior Living, our staff truly lives our promise, "Our Family Is Committed To Yours." LPN’s are available 16 hours per day, 7 days per week. Medication Technicians are responsible for medication management and our resident assistants are staffed 24 hours a day to offer the day to day hands-on care and companionship to our residents.

Our caregivers receive extensive on-the-job training to enhance their knowledge of the Join Their Journey program, as well as attend formal quarterly training sessions to keep them up to date on the latest information and research relating to memory disorders.

As a result, they thoroughly understand the disease process, why residents act as they do and what techniques work best to communicate and redirect them in a safe, non-combative manner. Most importantly, they are truly passionate about what they do and genuinely care about getting to know each resident.
