Everett, Washington Senior Living Apartments

A Wonderful Active Lifestyle

Because of customer satisfaction, Emeritus at Seabrook has one of the lowest move-out rates of any senior living community in the region. Since many of our residents have lived here for several years, they treat each other as family. Those who are more independent are helpful and accepting of our residents who are less able to assist themselves. For example, at mealtime, our residents pride themselves on helping each other into our dining room, where everyone sits together, just like family.

Many of the activities are provided through the Emeritus brain health program, designed by a neurophysiologist to help seniors maintain sound brain health. For example, we offer various memory-related activities, such as reviewing countries and capitals, writing in the non-dominant hand and learning to count to 10 in several languages, as well as trivia games and Wheel of Fortune. We also discuss operas, composers, authors and poets, and sponsor weekly social get-togethers with nutritious “brain healthy” smoothies. Of course, there are many social activities, including Bingo, bean bag shuffle board, pinochle, blackjack and happy hour once a week. A resident-led seated exercise program is held every morning, and we offer high tea every other Saturday. Church services and Bible studies are held every week. Wii and Minute to Win It are also very popular with residents. And residents can join our crafters club and learn quilting and cross stitch. For those who love to get their nails done, our beauty salon, open three days a week, is available for manicures.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

Our community participates in a buddy program in which children from local schools visit. For example, students from the local middle school come by at least once a month to talk with a resident who has been designated as their “buddy.” This gives the student someone older who is willing to be here and listen to them, and it gives our residents someone to share their life experiences with. Other student groups, from preschool through high school, can be seen at Emeritus at Seabrook as often as four times a month.

Our life enrichment director has developed strong relationships throughout the community. We take trips to see newborn ponies, visit the Kangeroo Farm, view the Tulip Fields in Mt. Vernon, and do lunch out at many favorite local restaurants. Our residents have also “adopted” the Lake Stevens Food Bank, sponsoring canned food drives during the holidays. In addition, they put together Christmas stockings full of gifts for children and seniors in need. And at Easter, our residents make more than 200 Easter baskets filled with all kinds of toys and treats for children associated with the Lynnwood Food Bank.

Fine Dining

Three homemade meals are served, restaurant-style, every day. We offer one main entrée and an alternative option. However, if our residents would rather eat something else, we offer other choices, such as salads, sandwiches, homemade soups and quiche. Our dining services director/chef has been with our community for five years and takes pride in preparing everything from scratch. So it’s not surprising our residents often compliment her cooking! In addition, many of our residents are diabetic and are on low-sodium, low-sugar diets. For them, we make sure we provide many healthy and delicious choices. Cookies and coffee are always on hand in our activities room, and fresh fruit reflecting the bounty of the season can be found in our lobby area.
