Fredricksburg, VA Senior Living Apartments

A Wonderful Active Lifestyle

Emeritus at Wilburn Gardens offers a wide variety of social and entertaining activities. From the basics like BINGO, bowling, movies and church functions to trips and excursions outside of the community, Wilburn Gardens offers it all. Our residents have the freedom to enjoy life at their pace.

Should they choose, they may participate in wonderfully planned trips to such places as the Marine Corp Museum, a picnic at Lake Anna, a riverboat cruise or simply a local shopping trip to replenish their fridge. Outings specific to the charm of historic Fredericksburg include local trolley tours and classic Carl’s soft serve ice cream.

Numerous entertaining groups visit Wilburn Gardens on a monthly basis, often developing personal relationships with our residents. Residents are frequently invited to join in with the various musical groups. If quiet time is in order, many residents enjoy the various areas of the community to rest, relax and socialize. A newly built gazebo joins the choices residents have to socialize. These include our large front porch, the library and living room, complete with gas fireplace. Friendships develop and experiences are shared throughout the building.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

Wilburn Gardens opens its doors for the benefit of the community. A twice monthly support group for families living with Alzheimer’s disease meets at Wilburn. Home health and hospice organizations frequently provide in-service training and support, both to staff and family members.

Wilburn Gardens has also been the site of community training for those seeking Med Tech certification. As members of various organizations, Wilburn Gardens participates in such awareness programs as Partners in Aging‘s Life Begins at 50 and the Caregivers Symposium. These are in addition to the participation and support of local Alzheimer’s Association programs.

Fine Dining

The dining experience is supposed to be just that……a positive, engaging and social experience. The environment and socialization can be just as important as the food itself. Elegant dining at cozy tables of four encourage friendships and conversation. A well-balanced, senior appropriate menu is developed by a registered dietician.

Selections such as hot coffee and tea, iced tea, milk and water at every meal give residents freedom of choice. Alternatives to the main course give yet another option for resident choice in their dining experience. Special diet and preparations are also available for those having diabetic needs or other restrictions.

Parties, holidays and special entertainment events always include something special from our kitchen. Our experienced Dining Services Director and his staff will always produce interestingly creative and delightful desserts, treats and other refreshments. Every day could be a holiday at Emeritus at Wilburn Gardens.
