Wichita Falls, Texas Assisted Living and Dementia Care Services

Assisted Living Services

When a resident first moves into our community, our nurse conducts a complete assessment, then holds a care plan meeting with the resident and their family members to talk about their needs. She likes having the opportunity to meet residents in their homes so that she can see what their typical day and their environment are like.

In addition, we want to know if there is something special or different that we can do for mom or dad that would provide comfort to the resident and family. It may be a small request – one family asked us to spray the collars of their mom’s blouses before washing them to be sure make-up was removed. Anything they want us to do, we’ll do for them.

This is just one way we live the Emeritus motto – our family is committed to yours – every day and in everything we do. Sometimes, the resident simply needs a little TLC, whether that’s taking time to look at a Mother’s Day card they received in the mail, engaging them in a conversation, playing a game together, visiting them in the hospital or simply giving them a hug to lift their spirits. We strive to be good listeners, to honor our residents’ choices and make a difference in their lives – every day. We are their family – and they are ours.

The assisted living services provided include: 24 hour care staffing, laundry and linen service, housekeeping, and more. Learn more about our assisted living communities at Emeritus.

Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Services

As an Emeritus community, we follow the Join Their Journey program. Our focus is to get to know each resident and their life story, so that we can join them in their reality – not force them into ours. If a resident says she is getting ready for a date with her husband, we help her get ready – we don’t remind her that her husband has passed on – then gradually redirect the conversation. We also have life stations throughout the community – a baby life station with life-like baby dolls that they can care for; a laundry life station, where they can match socks and fold towels; and a life station with electrical gadgets, locks and doorknobs that many of our men enjoy tinkering with. Small tasks like these help keep residents busy, help them with coordination – and most importantly, to help them feel at home. Our dedicated memory care staff also undergoes extensive ongoing training in Join Their Journey.

Occasionally, when a resident is feeling overwhelmed in assisted living, we may transition them to memory care if it’s appropriate. We find that in some cases, the smaller environment of our memory care neighborhood is easier for them to handle. What’s more, we notice that new residents seem to feel at home instantly because they recognize that everyone around them is on their same level, which provides a sense of reassurance and support. As one of our staff members said so succinctly, “They buddy up to each other and take care of each other!”

Our senior living community is designed to care for seniors with Alzheimer's, Dementia and/or memory loss issues through various services and amenities. These services and amenities will be based on each resident's needs. Learn more about Emeritus’ dementia care services.
