A Wonderful Active Lifestyle

From playing cards, bingo and domino to taking in a show at the Music City Hall to shopping trips to our local malls, our residents take full advantage of all the activities we have planned. Groups of local school children and volunteers from Odessa often come in to sing for residents. We have a regular exercise program led by our full-time activities director. Visiting pastors from different denominations hold church services here on Saturdays and Sundays. We also do everything we can to make every holiday special. On Valentine’s Day, we had a “make-over” day, thanks to several Mary Kay representatives donating their time to do our ladies make up and share tips. This past Christmas, residents were treated to a wonderful horse-drawn carriage ride around the neighborhood to see the Christmas lights. And of course, we had a big traditional Thanksgiving dinner – families are always invited to all of our holiday meals.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

In the near future, we are planning to have a Sherwood Place Open House to which we will invite area home health agencies to set booths with information about their services. We also periodically have “tea parties,” during which senior groups from our local churches join residents for tea and treats.

Fine Dining

Our Dining Services Director is truly a “Master Chef,” having been trained a professional culinary arts school and been employed as a chef in an upscale restaurant. He always prepares a wide range of dishes – from simple hamburgers to a gourmet-style Tilapia. Three meals a day are served restaurant style – for breakfast, residents are served made-to-order eggs, bacon, toast, oatmeal and cereal. Lunch is our main meal of the day, during which residents are always offered a main entrée and an alternative choice. And dinner features a lighter fare, including soups, salads and sandwiches. Snacks are always available in between meals, and for our residents with diabetes, we bring snacks right to their apartments.
