"We have promised ourselves that we will always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less that our best will do."
This is a simple promise that the staff at Emeritus at Elmbrook Estates; and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities; has shared since 1997, when our community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful; a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our residents who have chosen our retirement community for its active lifestyle.
The Perfect Location
Emeritus at Elmbrook Estates is located in a residential neighborhood just off 66th Street and Slide Road. We’re easy to find – right behind the Hobby Lobby craft store and just on the other side of Loop 289 from the South Plains Mall. Restaurants abound – with Rock Fish, Rudy’s Barbeque, Fuddruckers and Olive Garden among our residents’ favorites. The public library is just across the street, and a grocery store, Wal-Mart and movie complex are 10 minutes or less from our community. Several hospitals are in the area, including Grace Medical Center, Lubbock Heart Hospital, Covenant Medical Center and University Medical Center – all within 15 to 20 minutes. The local fire station is just to our west, ensuring that should there be a medical emergency, first responders are here in just a few minutes.
A Wonderful Selection
Our two-story senior living community offers 97 spacious apartments, including a mix of one-bedroom configurations, L-shaped alcoves and studios ranging from 400- to 550-square feet. Of the 97 apartments, 17 one-bedroom units are located in our new wing built in 2005. All of our apartments include a private bathroom, refrigerator, individually controlled heat and air conditioning, wall-to-wall carpeting and all utilities (including cable), except telephone. While each apartment is decorated in lovely earth tones, residents are welcome to repaint and decorate any way they wish with their own personal belongings and furniture. In addition to weekly laundry services, which are included in the monthly rent, complimentary laundry facilities are also located throughout our community. Pets are welcome, as long as we have vaccination records. We prefer dogs under 35 pounds, but will consider larger animals on an individual basis.
Our common areas include a front lobby with fireplace, piano and sitting area, as well as a spacious dining room with a 30-foot ceiling and overlooking balcony. Our dining room is ideal for large gatherings, especially when outside groups such as choirs and bands come into our community to entertain residents. In addition, we have a small private dining room that residents can reserve for special family gatherings, as well as a full kitchen available for residents’ use. Two lobby areas and large TV room provide ample space for sing-alongs, prayer meetings, card and board games, and quiet relaxation. We also have an onsite beauty salon opened most weekdays. A courtyard outside is located between our main building and our new wing. Pathways, mature landscaping, flowers and bird feeders create an outdoor oasis. An outside smoking area is also available.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
An onsite home health agency – Calvert Home Health – supports the rehabilitation needs of most residents, with services provided in a dedicated therapy room. Therapists can also work with residents right in their apartment. Of course, should they prefer to use their own therapists, residents are always welcome to work with whomever they’d like. Through our partnerships with local hospice providers, as well as with private sitters, residents who require additional care can often “age in place,” so that, for the most part, they aren’t forced to move into a skilled nursing facility. Podiatrists also pay house calls. And on weekdays, we provide transportation to medical appointments.
Our Staff
Our staff is exceptionally caring, compassion and supportive of both our residents and their families. In fact, if you were to visit our community, you’re likely to see many staff wearing a “Wow” lapel pin. Through our Wow! recognition program, other staff members can write comments about another caregiver who went above and beyond to help residents.
In addition, Emeritus places a great deal of emphasis on making sure communities have proper nursing staff. As such, we have two full-time nurses, including a Registered Nurse who is responsible for conducting assessments prior to and following admission. She also works closely with our families to ensure ongoing communication, as well as to help educate them on their loved one’s health situation and needs. Our Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for overseeing our medication management staff, as well as coordinating all communication between families and residents, physicians and pharmacies.
