Houston Assisted Living and Memory Care Services

Assisted Living Services

Once a resident has chosen to move into Emeritus at Cy Fair, our Resident Care Director conducts an extensive evaluation, in part to get to know the resident, as well as to help determine the level of care he or she will require. The resident or family also provides complete medication information, so that our staff knows the resident’s medical history. From this, a detailed care plan is created.

Once the new resident moves in, our philosophy is to help encourage him or her to be as independent as possible. We also want every resident to become active members of our assisted living community. Toward this end, we have a new resident luncheon, during which our staff introduces the resident to his or her new family and makes sure the resident is oriented to their new home. The bonds of friendship go along way towards helping residents improve their quality of life and help them fight depression. Our community is a place of life and activity, a place where everyone cares deeply about each other and are always willing to extend a helping hand, whether that’s our staff helping a new resident get settled in or a current resident inviting a new resident to sit at his table for meals.

The assisted living services provided include: 24 hour care staffing, laundry and linen service, housekeeping, and more. Learn more about our assisted living communities at Emeritus.

Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Services

Our memory care community embraces the Emeritus Join Their Journey, a wonderful program that is designed to validate each resident for the person they are now – not simply someone with a debilitating memory disease. We enter their world and become part of their journey. For example, one of our residents was a secretary years ago. She takes minutes at our Resident Council meetings and believes she is the Executive Director’s assistant. This gives her a sense of value and self-worth. We treat all of our residents with the respect and dignity they inherently deserve as people, and we get to know them for their heart and soul, not simply for who they once were. They feel that they truly are valued and special, which we believe gives them a sense of safety and security.

Through the Join Their Journey philosophy, we’re able to find new ways to reach out and communicate with our residents. For example, we know that many people with memory impairments become more creative. So with one of our residents, who has a vision disorder and speaks very little, we gave him some paper and he drew a flower with his name. His wife, who was sitting at his side, began to cry and said he hadn’t drawn for years. She had been struggling with how to communicate with him. We gave her a way – through writing – to be able to feel a sense of connection with her husband.

Our senior living community is designed to care for seniors with Alzheimer's, Dementia and/or memory loss issues through various services and amenities. These services and amenities will be based on each resident's needs. Learn more about Emeritus’ Alzheimer's, dementia and memory care services.
