Assisted Living Services
Our Resident Care Director does an extremely thorough assessment of the resident’s needs before move-in. Through this process, a care plan is developed that outlines all of the assisted living services the resident will require, down to the most minute detail. When the resident moves in, we find another resident to show them “the ropes.” Our staff also meets with the resident. They explain what their jobs entail, as well as all the daily ins and outs of living at our assisted living community, from when the resident’s laundry will be done to when their apartments will be cleaned. Our Life Enrichment Director also makes sure she meets each residents and finds out what kind of activities they’re interested in. If we don’t offer it, she’ll make every effort to include it in the schedule.
We always make sure the residents know we are here for them, any time they need assistance or simply a friend to talk to. Ultimately, our goal is to make sure our residents are thriving, not simply surviving. And most residents do thrive; they no longer need to worry about taking care of themselves, no longer have to worry about driving themselves to doctor’s appointments, spending their days alone or burdening their family members. They can be as independent as they like, but always know they have help whenever they need it.
The assisted living services provided include: 24 hour care staffing, laundry and linen service, housekeeping, and more. Learn more about our assisted living communities at Emeritus.
Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Services
As an Emeritus community, we use a wonderful program called Join Their Journey. The idea is that we don’t try to get the resident out of their environment, but rather join them in their reality. We don’t try to correct them, but instead, agree and then redirect them as appropriate. No is not a word you’ll hear often in our memory care neighborhood.
In addition, as part of Join Their Journey, we have set up a variety of life stations around our community – one designed for our ladies who loved to sew and iron; another with hats, scarves, purses and shoes; one for our men, with all kinds of gadgets they can tinker with; and another with kitchen items. The life stations give residents an opportunity to connect with past memories, whether that was a love of cooking or playing with nuts and bolts. We typically spend about 30 minutes each day, with residents gathered in small groups around the life station of their choice. Residents also love to garden and are continually planting all kinds of new flowers in the gardens located in their own secured courtyard.
Often, residents move here after living with adult children who can no longer manage their care. They typically do better once they move in, thanks to the routine of the community, a smaller more intimate environment, and a staff that does for them what they cannot do easily for themselves. Whatever it takes to care for our residents we are committed to doing for them – the satisfaction of knowing we make a difference means the world to us.
Our memory care community is designed to care for seniors with Alzheimer's, Dementia and/or memory loss issues through various services and amenities. These services and amenities will be based on each resident's needs. Learn more about Emeritus’ dementia care services.
