A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
At Emeritus at Kingsport, we value resident choice and rely on our residents' opinions to plan activities they enjoy. We have a full-time life enrichment director who plans a monthly calendar filled with life enriching activities tailored to our residents' tastes. Our residents start the day with an upbeat exercise program and a stroll through our hallways. In addition to opportunity for exercise, we offer choices of social, mental, spiritual, and creative activities. Residents may participate in a daily devotional time each day, and we offer weekly bible study and worship service on-site. Along with weekly lunch and shopping outings, we plan day-trips to destinations such as Bays Mountain, Symphony and Barter Theater. There is plenty to do for those who enjoy off-site excursions and we have a large 10 passenger bus, complete with a lift for easy access. Residents especially enjoy taking scenic drives on the bus to enjoy our local attractions and beautiful countryside. We also offer a variety of live entertainment for our residents' enjoyment.
We offer a variety of activities and social programs to enable our residents to maintain an active lifestyle. A typical day starts off with stimulating chair exercise’s led by our Life Enrichment Director followed by short stroll through our hallways. Then residents can enjoy discussing current events and news in our living room or possibly some puzzles and trivia games to keep an active mind. The morning is topped off with a daily devotion before heading to the dining room for lunch. An afternoon or evening activity may include an ice cream sundae social or a performance by a local singing group. We also give opportunity for our residents and families to enjoy holidays together here at our community. This includes a Christmas Open House, a Christmas dinner and celebration with family members, an annual July 4th cookout, as well as Memorial and Veteran's Day Recognition. Our resident's especially enjoy our annual fall activity of making apple butter. Everyone takes their turn in stirring the apple butter outside in an old-fashioned copper kettle. Afterwards, the residents and staff fill Mason jars with the fruits of their labor. We then top the day off enjoying hot butter biscuits and fresh homemade apple butter.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Emeritus at Kingsport is passionate about being active in the larger Kingsport community. Our focus is to hold events that add quality and value to the lives of others. We are involved with the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association with participation in annual Alzheimer's Memory Walks. We also strive to provide resources that offer help with financial and health issues, such as educational seminars.
We partner with the local organizations such as the Alzheimer's Association to promote awareness and research for Alzheimer's disease. As part of this partnership, we participate in our local Alzheimer's Memory Walk. Our staff raises money in a variety of ways to allow us to make an annual donation to our local Alzheimer's Association Chapter. One of our fundraisers includes a yard sale open to the public whereby our residents, family members, and staff donate items for sell. We also enjoy partnering with our local Kingsport Senior Center to be of resource to them - including sponsoring some of their special events. Emeritus at Kingsport also participates in the annual 50 Plus Expo at Meadowview Conference Center.
Fine Dining
In an elegantly appointed dining room, we serve three delicious homemade meals each day. Meals are served in a restaurant style atmosphere allowing residents to enjoy conversation while being served at their table. A main menu and alternate menu selection is available at both lunch and dinner- giving our residents' a choice as to what suits their individual taste. Residents may also opt to request a baked potato, soup and/or salad as an additional selection at mealtimes. We also offer a residents' choice meal each month.
