A Campus Community
Our continuing care community is set on a 46-acre campus in the heart of Easley, South Carolina. The campus includes two distinct communities:
- Countryside Village: Our largest community, Countryside Village truly is a continuing care senior living village, with a variety of separate buildings. These include several retirement apartment homes, with five units each and a single story community for independent, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing residents.
- Countryside Park: Located just behind Countryside Village is Countryside Park, a single building with 48 studio apartments for assisted living residents only.
A Perfect Location
Our campus is located just 15 minutes from downtown Easley, a lovely small city at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its quaint downtown area offers all kinds of specialty shops and restaurants. Easley is also located near numerous waterfalls, hiking trails and lakes – great for visiting family members.
Within just a few minutes of our community, there are three grocery stores, a Wal-Mart and Kohl’s – favorite destinations of our residents. We also enjoy occasional outings to nearby Greenville, including taking in sporting events and concerts at the Bi-lo Center and live theater performances at the more upscale Peace Center. With so much going on in this part of South Carolina, there’s never a lack of places to take residents. Plus our Activities Directors are always happy to take residents out to lunch and on errands to specific destinations of their choice.
A Wonderful Selection
Countryside Park offers 48 private studio-style apartments – some spacious enough to accommodate two residents – for a total capacity of 68 residents. All studios are equipped with handicapped accessible bathrooms with walk-in showers, as well as large windows that brighten the space. The community offers four different gathering spaces; our spacious main entrance includes computers, a library and an organ and piano, which residents are welcome to play. Our most popular common area is our sunroom, which opens onto a patio. Two other living rooms in opposite corners of the building provide couches and television. Countryside Park also has a very large dining room and activities room, with its own full-time activities director.
Within Countryside Village are 47 assisted living one- and two-bedroom apartments, with kitchenette, living room and handicapped-accessible bathrooms. There are large windows throughout, with some apartments overlooking the surrounding woods and the abundant wildlife that roams through our campus.
The main building in the Village has many common areas, including two dining halls for our independent residents and two for assisted living residents, a rehabilitation gym, chapel, arts and crafts room and other comfortable gathering spaces. Everything is all on one level, so no stairs or elevators for residents to navigate.
Our 16-bed secured memory care community, which is part of Countryside Village, offers 8 semi-private rooms, its own dining room, living room and a beautiful secured outdoor courtyard with chairs and an elevated garden. Every room faces onto the courtyard and has its own birdfeeder just outside the window. Our memory care community is adjacent to the 44-bed skilled nursing facility, where we provide long-term nursing care for residents requiring more intensive services, including hospice care. Skilled nursing also has a part-time activities director, so that resident can remain as active and engaged as possible.
With all levels of care available on one campus, we provide a true continuum of care. So residents can remain in familiar surroundings, near friends, should their health needs change.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
The Westin Group is located right here on campus, providing the full range of physical, occupational and speech therapy services in its own rehabilitation gym. The gym is spacious and well equipped, with all kinds of treadmills, exercise bikes, elliptical machines and more. Residents can receive services in the gym – or if they wish, the Westin Group therapists can bring some equipment right to their apartments and work with them in the privacy of their own homes.
We also contract with several hospice agencies in the immediate area. Residents often ask us to arrange services for them, but it’s always their choice should they prefer to work with a specific hospice provider. For our skilled nursing residents, we bring in a specialized geriatric nurse practitioner and physician from Network Geriatrics, who rotate through our community four to five days a week. A podiatrist visits our campus about twice a month. We also take independent and assisted living residents to their doctors’ appointments; two days a week we travel into Greenville, and two days a week, we transport residents to their appointments here in Easley.
Our Staff
It’s common to see our staff going above and beyond for residents, just like one of our nurses who recently came in on a Sunday morning – not because she was scheduled to work. She had made a promise to one of our residents, who passed away, that she would be the one to clean out her apartment. One of our community relations directors jumped in his car after 6 pm because a resident needed a prescription. Instead of waiting until the morning, he did what was needed to keep her safe and comfortable.
Whether it’s a manager, certified nursing assistant, resident caregiver or a member of our dietary or housekeeping staff, this kind of service is not the exception – it’s common practice around our community. Plus each group of staff becomes part of the individual community’s family. They eat with residents, join them for activities, share conversation and friendship – they become one community. With so much love and compassion for residents, it’s not surprising that many of our staff members choose to work here for their entire careers, with some having been part of our family for 20-plus years.
