Now that spring and great weather are here, the residents at Emeritus Laguna Creek have begun the Walking Lunch Club outings. Today's walk took us to the Taco Bell, just a large city block away.

Residents and their family members celebrated the beginning of Spring during the quarterly family event. Families and residents were treated to an evening of fine dining and entertainment by the one and only Elvis!

A Charity Show of Chinese Culture and Arts Performs at Alhambra

GV World Love Foundation, in cooperation with the US Chinese Artist Association, gave a charity show entitled "2013 Feelings of Love" in Alhambra.

GV World Love Foundation, in cooperation with the US Chinese Artist Association, gave a charity show entitled "2013 Feelings of Love" in Alhambra.

GV World of Love Foundation's mission is to help the elderly and orphans that live in senior homes and orphanages celebrate holidays like normal families, where they can find comfort in friends, love from the society, and realize that their presence has not been forgotten, in hopes that the elders and orphans will understand that our current society is still filled with love and hope, and they will not need to be alone. The beer was flowing at this year's St. Patrick's day party. Residents and families enjoyed dancing to the lively music and munching on the yummy snacks. Everyone wore green and got in the spirit of the holiday. Fun was had by all! [ Read more ]

Carlsbad Seniors Love their Island Style Lunch Club

This month our Memory Care Lunch Club had an island-style luncheon. This program, created by activity assistant Lucy Tavale, a native to the Samoan Islands, took our residents on a trip through the South Pacific with activities and a special Hawaiian plate lunch.

Those not familiar with Hawaiian plate lunch need to visit Maui Barbecue located in the city of Oceanside, home to a community of Polynesians such as NFL Linebacker Junior Seau, Historic Novelist Robert Shaffer, and the Creator of cup stacking Wayne Godinet.

To understand the plate lunch concept, one must look back to the history of the food that Maui Barbeque has branded as– the Hawaiian plate lunch. The traditional Hawaiian plate lunch consists of two servings of rice, a serving of macaroni salad, and features a generous serving of hot barbecue chicken, beef, and pork. [ Read more ]

Oak Tree Village Seniors Enjoy a Circus Happy Hour

The Circus is in Town

Resident Arline Kern and her friends at Oak Tree Village enjoyed a Circus Happy Hour complete with clowns from the Moolah Shrine Circus in town for the weekend.

Two of these clowns happen to be her sons. They filled the atrium with balloons and spread a little sunshine and laughter to all residents. Tomorrow over 20 residents will attend the circus. We just wonder how many will ride the elephants this year! [ Read more ]

Mooresville, North Carolina Seniors Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

The Memory Care at Churchill brought in St.Patrick's Day with the true luck of the Irish. The whole entire neigborhood was completely decorated in clovers and green whimisical wisps of confetti We had a traditional Bagpiper that enticed a few Residents to dance a jig or two.

Our Residents and staff were dressed for the occasion, adding to the ambiance. We also had a bounty of green treats to go around - Appletini's and Green beer of course, all alchol free to make this day more festive. Fun was had by all with their rainbows and pots of gold at the end.

All-Star Dance Company Visits Emeritus at Carlsbad

Each year the residents of Emeritus at Carlsbad receive a visit from the All-Star Dance Company of Oceanside & Carlsbad - Emeralds, Rubies, Sapphires, and Diamonds, the sparkly names for the dance teams grouped by age, under the direction of Courtney Bowen.

Performing to music classics, the dancers combine the powerful athleticism, high-energy dance moves and inspiring imagery that has become the company’s hallmark. It is deemed a theatrical showcase of talent. The “Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend” performance thrilled the audience of residents and family members with a blend of whimsy drama.

After the show, the cast of dancers greeted residents with bouquet of flowers handmade by the company themselves. Residents always enjoy this part of the year with colder weather upon us it’s always a treat to have something to entertain us. [ Read more ]
