
This month our Memory Care Lunch Club had an island-style luncheon. This program, created by activity assistant Lucy Tavale, a native to the Samoan Islands, took our residents on a trip through the South Pacific with activities and a special Hawaiian plate lunch.
Those not familiar with Hawaiian plate lunch need to visit Maui Barbecue located in the city of Oceanside, home to a community of Polynesians such as NFL Linebacker Junior Seau, Historic Novelist Robert Shaffer, and the Creator of cup stacking Wayne Godinet.
To understand the plate lunch concept, one must look back to the history of the food that Maui Barbeque has branded as– the Hawaiian plate lunch.
