Happy New Year's from Everyone at Oakridge!

Happy New Year's!

Oakridge Senior Living Celebrated New Year's with a formal dining experience, featuring prime rib and shrimp. We all enjoyed a toast before dinner.

We started off the evening celebration with a toast to our seniors and the new year, along with an elegant dinner. We then closed off the night with nostalgic music and dancing.

About Oakridge
"We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do." This is a simple promise that the staff at Oakridge—and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities—has shared since our community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful—a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our residents who have chosen our retirement community for its active lifestyle.

Emeritus at Mandeville Men's Golf

Hole in One

On a cold December day we brought golf indoors at Mandeville for our men in Memory Care. Our group consisted of six men both golfers and non-golfers using our automatic golfing green.

Some of our men that had never golfed shot some holes in one. And the actual golfers thought they were "bamboozled" by the other guys.

The men enjoyed egging each other on and making it friendly competition.

Emeritus at Mandeville Senior Art Fun

Vincent Van Gogh in Mandeville

Karen Stansbury, our Memory Care Director, and Vincent Van Gogh have struck again at our community.

This time the residents were guided to paint poppies. Each resident had their own unique interpretation of the painting.

One of our residents, with some one on one guidance, did a fabulous job with her artwork. The ladies laughed and poked fun at their artwork until the finished products were revealed. They felt a great sense of accomplishment!

Happy Birthday 102nd Birthday, Martha Jane!

Clarksdale, Mississippi native, Martha Jane is about to celebrate her 102nd birthday with her Emeritus at Ocala East friends and family.

During her youth, Martha Jane was the baby of the family. Her protective older brothers always made sure to watch over her. They adored her, and she adored them. She loved hanging out with her older brothers. She was often called a "Tomboy." Since she admired her brothers so much, being called a 'Tomboy" was a huge compliment!

Martha Jane loves playing golf and swimming. Before moving to Florida, she she was a member of the senior group at Central Church in Memphis. Also a Memphis resident, her dearest friend is Joanne. She's a loyal friend, devoted wife, daughter and sister. Out of all of the many wonderful ways to describe Martha Jane, Bettye and her sister would describe her as their loving mother, who played piano, made them laugh and who was "always there when we returned from school."
