Voorhees at Summerville MCN hosted an art auction to benefit the Alzheimer's Association and it was a smashing success!! We were able to raise over $1,100 which was handed into the Alzheimer's Association at this years Memory Walk this past Sunday in Philadelphia.
The art work sold at auction was all hand painted by our residents with the guidance of an art therapist from Art Without Boundaries; a fantastic association specializing in art therapy to improve the quality of life for individuals with Autism, Alzheimer's and other related disorders of the brain artwithoutboundaries.net/. Eileen Leyenaar, MCD, along with the assistance of all department heads and front line staff, organized, planned and successfully launched the event. We were host to over fifty family and friends and services were donated by a local auctioneer and a photographer and videographer who captured the entire event for us! The generosity of our community has touched us all here at Voorhees and we are overwhelmed by the success. We are so proud of our residents and their accomplishemnts and the auction was a fantastic way to honor them. This auction gave them each a sense of purpose, and their families a legacy to cherish. Voorhees is already looking forward to next years auction!
