Emeritus at Garden Manor and resident, Jean Hentschel had the honor of welcoming home her grandson-in-law and US Marine Lance Corporal Ryan Shultz, who served with the US Marine Corps in Afghanistan, at their annual Memorial Day BBQ.
Garden Manor resident Jean Hentschel is the proud grandmother-in-law. Earlier in the year, residents sent Valentine’s Day cards and candies to Ryan and his troop to make sure they knew they were not forgotten while so many miles away from home while serving our country.
It was indeed an honor for the staff and residents of Emeritus at Garden Manor to greet him personally along with his wife, Jessica and their new baby Serenity and thank him for his service.
Fellow Garden Manor resident Elmer Rinne, himself an 88 year old WWII Navy veteran, was especially moved by having the opportunity to thank Ryan personally for his service.
As Elmer explained, “it was as if the memorial day party was for us personally.”
