Emeritus at Wayne is about Residents and Making Connections

Our new Life Enrichment Director, Itzik, is certainly off to the right start. On one recent afternoon he was working with some residents at the Connected Living computer, explaining to them that they can use the computer to find information or to connect with friends and relatives.
One resident, Gabe, asked Itzik if he could find his father through the computer. Gabe's father was from Trinidad and was a pioneer in the field of calypso music. Itzik assured him that he could and went home to see what he could find.
The next day Itzik brought Gabe over to the computer, sat him down, and asked him to "push this button". With that, Gabe began to hear his father's voice, singing a calypso melody. This brought tears to Gabe's eyes, joyful over this experience he never imagined he would have.
He began patting Itzik on the back, thanking him for this precious gift. At the next Connected Living presentation, Gina, our ambassador shared this story and music with the rest of our residents who were all very touched by it.
Making a connection with each resident is vital to ensuring them the highest quality of life while living in our communities.
