Today Harold and Donna Beumel celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at Emeritus at Snohomish! They celebrated the occasion with a nice romantic lunch. Donna lives in our Memory Care Neighborhood and Harold lives in Assisted Living. So, Harold and I teamed up to really surprise Donna! We purchased a bouquet of roses and a nice anniversary card for him to present to Donna. Our wonderful kitchen staff prepared little heart-shaped double layer chocolate cakes for the couple to share as dessert. We set up a table and romantic setting for the couple to enjoy lunch together in the cottage Donna lives in....and oh, boy Donna was beaming with happiness! When asked what is the key to making marriage last 65+ years Harold replied, "Well, she puts up with me and I put up with her." They both see each other at our various activities within the community but today was an extra special day!
