Introduction to Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder which causes bones to become weak and brittle due to a lack of calcium, often resulting in broken bones. Osteoporosis is most common in elderly women but can affect men and younger people as well. Without testing, many people will not even know they have this problem until a fracture occurs. Knowing why bone loss occurs is critical to preventing osteoporosis. Early treatment can save individuals from increased bone loss and eventual fractures, so be sure to check out our list of symptoms. If you have already been diagnosed, be sure to check out our information on treating osteoporosis to find out the latest interventions.
