Hemet, Calif. – Oct. 25, 2011 -- Emeritus at Hemet, an assisted living and memory care community, is proud to announce that Zeniada (Sid) Preciado, the community’s lead resident assistant, has been awarded California Assisted Living Association’s prestigious Outstanding Caregiver Award for 2011.
CALA presents this award annually to an exceptional caregiver who provides outstanding care and an enhanced quality of life for Assisted Living residents in California state.
Eileen Martinez, life enrichment director for Emeritus at Hemet, said, “From her first day, Sid has treated every resident as if they were her own family. If a resident is on hospice care, she never gives up on them. She encourages them to try to accomplish things for their own dignity, yet she is always close by to help when needed. We have learned through the years that the residents she cares for who are on hospice usually stay with us longer than expected. I truly believe she has the touch of an angel.”
Preciado added, “I have one of the best jobs in the world. I love what I do. It’s very rewarding to feel needed. I love it when I get to know who each resident is, and what they’ve done in their lives. It feels really good to earn their trust and see them become comfortable with me.”
Preciado has worked at Emeritus at Hemet for 11 years, and has been a resident of Hemet for more than 22 years. She was presented with the Outstanding Caregiver Award at the CALA Fall Conference in Anaheim, Calif., on Oct. 24.
