A Wonderful Place to Live
River Valley Landing is the only senior living community in the area that offers both independent livingand assisted living under one roof. Residents can move into one apartment and remain there; there’s no need to move from one apartment to another or from one building to another should their health requirements change. Personal services are simply added based upon the resident’s needs and wishes, and they can be added on a temporary basis, as well. If, for example, an “independent” resident is recovering from surgery, he or she can take advantage of assisted living services on, eliminating the need to have outside home health services brought in. And unlike some senior living facilities, our diverse group of residents enjoy doing everything together--activities, meals and outings --reating a wonderful sense of community. Our staff members, many of whom have worked here for more than 10 years, are a big reason why River Valley Landing feels so much like home. They pride themselves on making sure each resident is comfortable, welcomed and valued. In addition, many of our residents are from the immediate area and are still members of many local groups and churches, further strengthening the community feeling at River Valley Landing.
Whether a resident is quiet and shy or wants to be on the go all the time, we offer a wide range of activities to suit everyone. Whether we’re cheering for our favorite sports team on Monday night football or cheering on our Wii Bowling teammates, we’re having fun! Oktoberfest, senior prom, family appreciation dinners, bell choir, concerts and sing-alongs bring out the party spirit. Our regular offerings of daily exercise, walk & talk club, card games, Bingo, worship services, Bible study, book club, gardening (green house or outdoor), and educational and health seminars are just some of the many opportunities designed to maintain strong minds, bodies and spirits. Plus, at River Valley Landing, we find any excuse to celebrate: anniversaries, accomplishments, birthdays, holidays and seasonal events. Activities are always geared to our residents’ interests; in fact, our life enrichment director interviews each new resident to learn what social activities, personal hobbies and life passions they may have and does everything possible to add those interests to the calendar. Each new day awaits with planned activities, home cooked meals and lots of opportunities to share and live life to the fullest. Live, laugh, love, while we take care of the details!
Partnering with the Local Community
Our residents are blessed with the volunteering spirit and often join together to raise money for worthy causes. For example, our community is co-sponsoring an event with Oregon Heat to support its fuel assistance program. The event, which features a display of gingerbread houses decorated by local businesses and churches, is held right here. Attendees buy raffle tickets and vote on their favorite gingerbread house, while enjoying refreshments and music.
We are a proud member of the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce and frequently host community events in our home. Whether it’s a monthly meet-and-greet, a special fund-raising event benefiting the needy, or an educational presentation, our residents enjoy the excitement of seeing new faces and staying connected with the community-at-large. In addition to Chamber events, we often welcome civic groups such as Toastmasters, Rotary and Kiwanis to use our spacious community room. Of course, residents are often long-standing members of these groups and are thrilled to introduce fellow members to their “family” at River Valley Landing.
Fine Dining
Three delicious, nutritionally balanced meals are served restaurant style in the main dining room. Each meal features a main entrée with a menu of alternate options offering choices to accommodate individual preferences and special diets. From fantastic shrimp scampi to liver and onions, everyone raves about our food! One of the primary reasons is Chef Martin, who brings years of restaurant and teaching experience working at the Culinary Institute of Portland. He also has specialized expertise in German cuisine. Our sauerbraten, bratwurst, veal schnitzel, strudel and spätzle are as good as you’ll find in the best restaurants in Berlin! Our dining room has open, unassigned seating so residents can meet and greet a variety of friends and family. Snacks, coffee and juice are always available on a help-yourself basis throughout the day.
