Seaside, Oregon Assisted Living and Memory Care Services

Assisted Living Services

Our goal is to help residents remain as independent as possible, providing the help they need, but not taking over activities that they can do for themselves. For example, we try to discourage the use of motorized wheelchairs so that residents will continue to use their arms and legs, even when they aren’t mobile. For each resident, we create an individualized care plan in cooperation with the family, the resident’s doctors and our staff to ensure that we are able to care for that person’s specific needs. Care plans can include any combination of mealtime reminders, escort assistance to and from meals and activities, additional housekeeping services, personal laundry service, assistance with medication management, scheduling medical appointments, periodic nighttime care and assistance with such personal care as bathing, dressing and grooming and incontinence. We are also able to provide specialized care for our residents with diabetes. As part of Emeritus, we can deliver all of our assisted living services in a way that works for our residents, yet we have at hand all of the resources of this national assisted living leader to help deliver the very best care.

Alzheimer's, Dementia and Memory Care Services

One of our strengths at Necanicum Village is that we get to know each of our residents and care for them as individuals. We always treat them with kindness and respect, understanding that if a resident is agitated, it’s a medical issue, not a behavioral issue. We strive to do everything we can to enable residents to remain here, in the comfort of their own home. For example, if one of our residents is a person who was easily frustrated, even before they became ill, we understand that kind of personality is greatly magnified in people with dementia. We may send him to a geriatric psychiatrist who can review his medications and get him stabilized so that he could continue living here.
Knowing that any of us could suffer from a memory disorder later on in life, we treat our residents as if they were our own grandparents. In fact, we are collecting biographies and photographs of residents to include in our family photo book. Some of our residents had been living alone, isolated from everyone before moving here. They hadn’t eaten properly, nor taken their medications correctly. But once they are surrounded by a loving staff, given activities to help stimulate their minds, taken on walks and scenic drives and receiving proper medical care, they typically improve a great deal. And that’s what gives our staff the greatest satisfaction.
