Rose Valley Community Testimonials

Community Testimonials

Scappoose is a beautiful little town in Oregon - less than 7,000 people so the entire town has that small town feel to it. There is a very close-nit, close community vibe throughout the town, but at the same time it isn't so small that you have to travel far for shopping, errands, etc. You can pretty much find anything you need in town. Scappoose is also gorgeous - trees, trees, trees, and more trees. I think that it is an ideal, safe, and relaxing location for a senior living environment. Rose Valley is pretty much the only "facility" option for senior living, because the town is small you do not have multiple choices for your loved ones, unless you are considering in-home care, so it is important that Rose Valley be on top of it's game, a senior living residence that the residents and their families can trust. Sometime when one is only left with one option it can be hard to know if they are getting the best of that option because there is nothing else to compare it to. I have been visiting Rose Valley for quite some times now and while there are some great things about the community there are also a few things that need to be improved, as with any community. Senior living communities can ALWAYS be better - even if they are brilliant - there is always room for growth and one of my concerns with this community is they seem to be at a stand-still, they seem to be content with the way they are and they don't seem to be concerned with finding ways to continually improve the community or with exploring options and opportunities which can lead to bettering the quality of life, care, and convenience for the residents and I don't understand why. I don't know if maybe they think that since they are pretty much the only choice for families that they do not need to better the community or if they think because they don't really ever get any negative feedback from residents/families that nothing needs to be fixed or whatever else the reason may be. I just wish that they would show some excitement about always trying to make the community the best home possible for the residents.

Don't get me wrong - the community is exceptional. The staff members are wonderful and provide each residents with nurturing, patient, and individualized care and they interact and communicate with the residents in such a sweet and friendly manner. They all seem to be very fond and very close with the residents and I am always seeing the staff go out of their way to make each resident feel special and loved and an important part of the community. The staff are very proud of their residents, whenever one of the residents achieves something or something special happens to them - the staff members will be the first to celebrate with them. There are many amenities and services within the community which helps in giving the residents as convenient a lifestyle as possible. The activity and event schedule is full of really fun and creative opportunities for the residents. There are many individual and group activities to keep the residents entertained and active. The special outings are great whether it is a scenic drive in the country, a trip to the city, or anything else - the residents really enjoy going out in to the world and exploring all that there is to see and experience. The staff are always asking the residents for suggestions and ideas on fun activities, entertainment, resident programs, volunteer opportunities, outings, or anything else they would like to implement in to the activity schedule or their daily routines.

Again, the ONLY thing that I would like to see is some motivation from the staff when it comes to exploring, planning, and implementing new ideas to improve the community, I want to see that they WANT to do everything in their power to make the community the best it can be. Like I said before - in senior living there is ALWAYS room for growth, always new ways to improve the quality of life for residents and ways to make the community stronger. Rose Valley is owned by Emeritus which means that the community is closely monitored by Emeritus to make sure that the residents are receiving the highest quality of care, service, convenience and to see that the residents are happy and comfortable within the community. So it is always good to know that your loved ones have people who are looking out for them and their well-being besides just the staff at Rose Valley alone. On the other hand, I have been around the facility long enough to see that the staff's only priority and focus is on the residents and the well-being and happiness of the residents is their top concern so you will never have to worry about whether your loved ones are valued by the staff because they are SO valued by the staff each and every minute of every day.
