Assisted Living Services
Before a resident moves into Sellwood Landing, we conduct a thorough assessment of their needs and abilities, from which we determine the assisted living services they will require. In addition, we take advantage of an extremely useful Emeritus wE Care - Resident Evaluation Program that enables us to create a “task sheet” for each resident. This ensures that every caregiver knows exactly what the resident needs in terms of help with daily living, keeping them on task, day and night. It also helps the caregiver create a picture in his or her mind of the residents ability level.
Recognizing the old adage, “Use it or lose it,” we strive to help residents maintain their abilities as long as they are able – helping them do for themselves, and always respecting their dignity. In fact, at our daily staff meetings, our managers continually emphasize what we all need to do to help residents maintain their dignity and independence. It might take a caregiver much longer to stand by the side of a resident while they are showering and dressing. However, we are dedicated to respectfully allowing the resident the dignity to do what they can still do for themselves. Ultimately, our goal is to treat our residents like we would treat our own parents or grandparents – with respect, love and compassion.
