A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
Whether a resident lives independently in one of our retirement cottages or needs a wide range of assisted living care, we offer a full schedule of activities open to all residents. Country drives, a varied exercise program, story telling, daily current events, pedicures and manicures, community bingo and movie nights are all part of our active calendar. A Catholic priest conducts communion every Thursday. We also frequently bring in outside entertainment, from piano singers to choir groups. Many of our residents belong to the Red Hat Society, which meets here for tea or lunch once a month. On Sundays, family members are invited to a brunch – and, of course, they are always welcome to join us for any of our other activities.
With so much going on, new residents will find Heron Pointe very warm and welcoming to all!
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Heron Pointe is extremely well connected to our local senior center – not surprising, since Monmouth is a small community. We host the center’s monthly potluck and provide a large cake for its monthly birthday party. Many of their members join our residents for brunch, bingo – great prizes provided – and other activities. In some cases, they know residents from having lived together in the same town for many years.
Retired professors from the University – a group called Emeritus – occasionally give lectures at our community – and our chefs provide snacks for their monthly meetings.
Fine Dining
All residents receive three meals a day, as part of their monthly rent. Meals are served restaurant-style in our main dining room, with our wait staff graciously serving meals and clearing tables. They first bring around the salad and juice cart, then take their order – typically we offer two entrée choices at each meal. If a resident is sick, we can bring their meals to their apartment. We can also accommodate most dietary restrictions, from low-sodium to mechanical soft diets. Vegetarian options are also available.
Snacks are offered between mealtime, including snacks specially prepared for those of our residents with diabetes. At holidays, we always have special meals planned and many of our residents’ family members join us as guests. Families are also welcome to reserve our smaller dining room for their own private celebrations.
