When a prospective resident is considering joining our community, either an executive director or registered nurse visits the individual in their home and does a preliminary assessment of needs. The evaluation is the basis for the care plan, which details exactly what services are required – with services documented in minutes. For example, one resident may need extensive help with showering and dressing, while another resident just needs a quick check. Because our care plans are personalized for each individual, residents pay for only those services they need. After they move in, we reassess their needs within 30 days – then again every 90 days unless their health status changes.

Our goal is to encourage all residents to be active and as independent as possible. Keeping them engaged and enjoying our wonderful lifestyle helps them stay healthy, productive and happy. Of course, it’s always the resident’s choice to participate or not – and we do whatever we can to support their choices, while ensuring their safety.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Services

In line with the Emeritus Join Their Journey program, our goal is to alleviate the anxiety and fear that many residents with memory care issues live with every day. Toward this end, we focus on keeping residents engaged with activities that are familiar and comfortable to them. We might lead them to one of our “life stations,” where our ladies can dress up and our men can fiddle around in our workshop. Some of our residents love to help set up and clear tables – keeping them engaged in an activity they did before they got sick helps keep the fear and anxiety at bay. We even have one resident who worked in an office setting, so she helps put our newsletter together. Giving residents a sense of purpose and helping them feel good by satisfying their personal and health needs is all part of Joining Their Journey, wherever they are in their lives.
