East Side Manor is an assisted living community that embraces the ever changing needs of our aging population. One of the fastest growing maladies in this demographic is the prevalence of memory issues and Alzheimer's. As a result, much time, effort, and finances have been allocated to this cause. East Side and Emeritus as a whole are major contributors to the Alzheimer’s Association and their studies in brain health. Emeritus has also enlisted the help of Dr. Paul Nussbaum, a leader in the research and study of brain health when developing our Alzheimer and dementia programming, "Join Their Journey." This empathy-based program allows the caregiver an understanding and introspection into the life of the resident and what they are going through. Through this empathy training, the caregiver is more sympathetic to the needs of the resident and better equipped to handle them.
