Roswell Assisted Living and Memory Care Services

Assisted Living Services

La Villa's motto is family. Providing care that goes above and beyond is how family members treat each other. Our management staff always reminds caregivers that this is our residents’ home; treat them just like you would your mom or dad. Residents deserve the best care we can give them, so we go out of our way to make them feel like kings and queens. Yes, we spoil them! But at the same time, we help them remain as independent as possible. We’ll do their laundry or make their beds, but if they want to take care of it themselves, that’s fine too. We understand that the more dependent a person becomes, the faster they decline. Having the ability to continue taking care of one’s self is key to feeling a strong sense of self-worth and value. Of course, if a resident’s health does deteriorate, we offer the full range of assisted living services, which we tailor to the resident’s needs. So they can “age in place,” right here in the comfort of their own home. Even if they become memory impaired, they can simply move into our memory care community, located in the same building, which helps minimize stress and disruption for the resident and their families.

Alzheimer’s and Memory Care Services

If dementia sets in, our residents can remain at La Villa and become part of our memory care community. As an Emeritus community, we follow the Join Their Journey® program, a specialized program in which we support our residents in what they are doing at that moment and celebrate them for who they are now. We constantly remind ourselves that the individual was not always this way; once they were productive members of society – and despite how the disease has affected them, they deserve respect and dignity. So we join them in their reality, never arguing with them or saying “no you can’t do that.” Instead, we redirect in a kind and compassionate way.

Our staff is exceptionally well trained to support the special needs of our residents. They attend an initial orientation, as well as monthly in-services that cover a wide range of topics, from the proper ways to lift residents to the latest research on the Alzheimer’s disease process. The community itself is set up so that two residents share a room, which we believe helps residents feel less alone and encourages them to socialize more with others. Of course, we work hard to make sure we match people up appropriately. Should that match not quite work, we make the necessary changes.
During the day, we plan many activities to keep residents physically and mentally stimulated, from exercise to ball toss games to arts and crafts. In addition, one of our residents plays the piano for residents, who love to get up and dance! We play memory games and have movie nights, just like in our assisted living community.

Should our residents get the urge to wander, they can go outside to our secured Rose Garden, where there are paths, benches and a lovely gazebo with a willow tree that provides welcoming shade. One of our residents loves to garden, so we got him some gardening tools and he waters our flowers. Residents also have their own dining room, where we have a table set aside for those who need help eating. There is also a separate sun room, where we do activities, put together puzzles and even engage them in such tasks as folding towels and matching socks. Everything in our memory care community is designed to make residents feel safe, comfortable and able to wander wherever they’d like to go.
