Emeritus at Spruce Wood is located on a picturesque 16 acre wooded setting in the beautiful town of Durham, New Hampshire. We are located 2 miles from the University of New Hampshire and downtown Durham and within miles of the seacoast, lakes and mountains of New Hampshire. The downtown area of Durham has a variety of restaurants and shops and is home to the University of New Hampshire. Emeritus at Spruce Wood is only 10 miles from downtown Portsmouth, a historic port town offering a variety of restaurants, cultural centers, shops, museums, and boat cruises. The seacoast of New Hampshire has 13 miles of coastline great for a day at the beach or taking a ride along the coast. Emeritus at Spruce Wood is centrally located to three medical communities and hospitals; Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, and Exeter Hospital in Exeter.

Emeritus at Spruce Wood offers a comfortable home-like atmosphere with senior apartments in a variety of styles; studio, one and two bedroom private units. We have Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care Program and Respite Care. Emeritus at Spruce Wood has three floors of apartments and common areas allowing residents to retreat to a quiet area or socialize in another. Our senior apartments are spacious and include; ample closet space, wall-to-wall carpeting, window treatments, full kitchens/kitchenettes, large bathrooms with grab bars, walk in showers with seats, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, refrigerators, stoves, smoke detectors and sprinklers, pre-wired for cable, TV, telephone and internet. Common areas are warm and inviting and include a library, beauty salon, country kitchen, wellness room, UNH room, activities room, great room, sun rooms, courtyard, patio, and restaurant style dining room.

Emeritus at Spruce Wood has been in the Durham community since 2004, we have an excellent relationship with providers in the area. There are many highly respected primary care physicians, specialists and dentists in the surrounding area who are very responsive to the care needs of our residents. We also nurture relationships with area hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers so that we can provide a seamless continuum of care for our residents.
