"We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do."
This is a simple promise that the staff at Emeritus at The Seasons; and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities; has shared since 1998, when our community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful; a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our retirees who have chosen our community for its active lifestyle. When we say, "Welcome to Emeritus at The Seasons," where everyone is family," It's very definitely who we are, not just a tag line."
The Perfect Location
Emeritus at the Seasons is located in a residential neighborhood in Northwest Reno just off S. McCarren Blvd and I-80. We are literally on the summit and offer spectacular views of downtown, the entire expanse of the Reno Valley and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Yet we are close to all kinds of amenities. Just around the block is a major shopping area with a Wal-Mart, Safeway and Walgreen’s, and Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center is just about eight blocks to our east. Several skilled nursing facilities, including Manor Care – the closest to us – are in the immediate area.
With so much going on in Reno, we are able to offer our residents the opportunity to enjoy any one of dozens of restaurants – Hacienda is one of their favorites. We take them to the casinos downtown, to hear the Reno Philharmonic at the Pioneer Theater, for picnics in one of our local parks and on scenic drives around McCarren Blvd., which loops around Reno and offers gorgeous views of the mountains and valleys.
A Wonderful Selection
Our assisted living community offers a total of 77 senior apartments on the second and third floors, including studios, one bedrooms and two bedrooms in various layouts. They’re all very spacious – in fact, our apartments are among the most spacious of any assisted living community in the area. And they all offer terrific views, either of the downtown area, the Sierra Nevada Mountains or of the canyon behind us. Each senior apartment includes a kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave, a private wheelchair-accessible bathroom, individual temperature control, wall-to-wall carpeting and an emergency call system that residents wear around their wrist and can activate anytime they need assistance. Pets are also welcome to join our family.
Common areas on the main floor include a very large lobby with a newly installed chandelier, an exercise room, spacious activities room, private dining room for family gatherings, a café/bistro area and our lovely bright dining room with its large windows overlooking the Reno Valley. Upstairs, we have a well-stocked library and a beauty salon open six days a week, including two days dedicated to manicures and pedicures. Outdoors, residents can enjoy a lovely courtyard with a fountain, walking paths and of course, beautiful views in every direction!
Our Memory Care Community offers a very homey and cozy environment with 15 studios, some of which are shared. Most include a private bathroom – and some have views of a secured, enclosed courtyard with a gazebo and sitting area. The landscaping has recently been redesigned to make it more floral and decorative. Common areas include a family-style sitting area with television and sofas, a large activities area with tables for various crafts and games, a main dining room overlooking the courtyard and a smaller sitting area just outside of the dining room.
In addition, our community just recently underwent a major remodel, with new exterior and interior paint, new flooring throughout the hallways and common areas, including hardwood floors in our dining room, as well as improved lighting. We are also remodeling our landscaping – with all of these changes designed to improve and refresh the appearance of our building, both inside and out.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
We work with a wide range of local home health and hospice agencies – and always allow our residents and their families to choose whichever agency best meets their needs. Should a resident require physical, occupational or speech therapy, we will help them set up the appointment. Services are provided right here, on site, either in the resident’s apartment or in our fully equipped exercise room. In addition, for the convenience of our residents, a geriatric nurse practitioner comes into our community to see his patients every week – again, with services provided right in their own apartment. We can also bring in hospice services as needed to help ensure that residents are able to get all of the care they require, so that they don’t have to leave their home and move into a skilled nursing care facility should their health decline.
Our Staff
Come for a tour of Emeritus at the Seasons, and you’ll see for yourself that our staff is always smiling and friendly and goes out of its way to take the time to greet everyone who walks in the door. They truly strive to exceed the expectations of everyone they come in contact with, whether a visitor, resident or family member. For example, our housekeepers, many of whom have been here for several years, know the residents extremely well. They know exactly how the resident want their apartments cleaned and always respect his or her wishes. Our caregivers and nursing staff are able to anticipate residents’ needs and go above and beyond to ensure that they are safe, comfortable and enjoying themselves. This all comes from our dedication to living by our pledge, “Our family is committed to yours.” We truly are a family at the Seasons – in fact, some of the same staff have been with us since we opened 14 years ago.
Our memory care community has its own dedicated staff, including our Memory Director who works closely with our Residential Care Director (an LPN) to ensure continuity of care for those residents moving from assisted living into our memory care community. Each staff person receives extensive training, including monthly classes in the Emeritus Join Their Journey Program. They also strive to be proactive – anticipating the resident’s needs to ensure they remain comfortable and content as possible. We also understand that this is a difficult time for the family members and work closely with them to support them through the transition.
