A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
After breakfast most mornings, residents gather at 9:30 for News and Views, during which we read the newspaper and discuss local and world events. We also offer a chair exercise program at least five days a week, and there’s always a card or board game taking place somewhere! Residents especially love Skipbo, Uno, 500 and Bridge. And arts and crafts are always on the calendar.
Every Friday, we host an ice-cream social in our dining area, and four nights a week we show movies in one of our living rooms. Up to four times a month, we bring in outside entertainment, such as accordion and piano players, folk singers and even impersonators who entertain residents with old Sinatra and Tom Jones favorites. We also offer an extensive religious program, with Catholic Communion on Wednesdays, non-denominational bible study two days a week and a non-denomination church service in own chapel on Sundays.
In addition, several times a year, we host family events, like last year's "October Around the World with Emeritus," during which we set up several stations with a variety of ethnic foods. Sometimes we have theme parties – like our Back to the ‘50s event, during which local residents from Minnetonka brought over their old-time classic cars, while we all enjoyed entertainment and a wonderful meal. Once a month, we take residents on a scenic drive and lunch at a favorite restaurant, and we go to Super Target twice a month. We also occasionally take residents to Long Lake Park for some summer fishing!
Partnering with the Community
We are an integral part of the Minnetonka community and take full advantage of the incredible facilities located right here in the immediate area. This includes the Minnetonka Senior Center. Throughout the week, many classes and programs are offered, from billiards, woodcarving, quilting and writing groups to educational programs on various health topics and health screenings. In addition, the Williston Fitness Center, which has just undergone a major renovation of its facilities, is right next door. Just about everything our residents could want – from daily arthritis walker classes to treadmills to personal training – is available. Residents can join for a low monthly fee or take occasional classes for a minimal fee if they prefer.
Fine Dining
Here at Emeritus at Minnetonka, we pride ourselves on offering outstanding dining services. Three meals a day are served, restaurant style, in our beautiful dining room, with its wall of windows overlooking our naturally landscaped property. Choice is always on the menu; our meal plan on a five-week rotation. We may serve chicken once a week, but it won’t be prepared the same way for those five weeks.
At breakfast, we serve all kinds of cold and hot cereals, egg dishes, pancakes and waffles, juices and hot beverages. For lunch and dinner, we always offer two choices. The menu is posted weekly, so residents know what’s planned. If they don’t want either entrée choice, we also offer an always-available menu, with deli sandwiches, grilled cheese hamburgers, soups and salads – they simply let us know in advance if they’d like something specific and we can usually accommodate most requests. Snacks are always available – whenever a resident is hungry, they simply come down to the kitchen, and we’ll take care of them, any time – 24 hours a day. And except for mechanical soft diets, we can cater to most special dietary needs.
In addition, our Dining Services Director, who has been with Emeritus for several years, meets monthly with our Resident Council to discuss the meals and their dining experience. Our goal is to make sure our residents are happy with the preparation and choices we offer – and from what our residents tell us, they love our food!
