Champlin, Minnesota Senior Living Community

A Wonderful Active Lifestyle

Both retirement and assisted living residents can partake in any one of our many activities program. This includes our daily chair exercise, strength and balance class; weekly church services and bible studies given by visiting pastors; ongoing entertainment, such as polka bands and choirs from our local high school that visit our senior living community on a regular basis; and arts and crafts. We also offer several clubs, from our Walking Club, which takes full advantage of the nearby trail system to our ladies’ Red Hat Society and the active Champlin Shores Choir. Games of all kinds – Bridge, Poker and Bingo, to name just a few – are almost always going on somewhere in our community. We also have a certified music therapist on staff, who works with both assisted living and memory care residents. And of course, our activities director plans many outings – to restaurants, shopping, movies and plays. In addition, we organize large family gatherings at least every few months – during holidays, as well as special events such as our annual pig roast. The gatherings always include a meal and some type of entertainment.

We also have a Life Enrichment Director, who takes care of planning our daily schedule for our memory care residents. One of her goals is to give them the opportunity to be involved all day, whether in a musical program, bible studies or physical activities, such as kick ball or volleyball. The program also includes many activities that focus on life skills that residents may have been accustomed to doing – folding clothes, baking bread or washing dishes, for example. Massage and manicures are also provided, ensuring that physical touch is an integral part of the care we provide. And once a week, usually on Thursdays, our staff takes residents out for different events, from scenic drives to walks around the community.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

Our community is very active with the Champlin Seniors, an active group of older residents who sponsor several events each year. For example, during the City of Champlin’s summer festival, Father Hennepin Days, we work closely with the Champlin Seniors to co-host a luncheon here at our community, which typically attracts 300 people from the community-at-large. We also have many other events throughout the year to which we invite the public, from special dinners to education programs. And Emeritus at Champlin Shores always sponsors a team to walk in the local Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s to help raise money for research.

Fine Dining

Residents are served three meals a day (retirement residents receive two meals a day), beginning with a full continental breakfast with toast, bagels, fresh fruit, eggs or another entrée dish such as waffles or pancakes. Lunch is our lighter meal, during which we serve such choices as fresh homemade soup, sandwiches and chef salads. At dinner time, there is one main entrée and an alternative available, ensuring residents always have a choice. Our residents often tell us how much they like our menu and say it is much like they would have made at home. We can also accommodate a wide range of special dietary needs, including non-concentrated sweets for diabetics, low sodium, pureed and mechanical soft diets. Anyone touring our community is always invited to stay for a meal, which we believe is the best and only way to truly evaluate our dining services.
