Assisted Living Services
At Emeritus at Eddy Pond, we don’t believe in a “one size fits all” program. Toward this end, one of our Resident Care Directors makes a home visit to assess the resident’s health status and needs before he or she moves in. During the visit, we’ll ask the resident a series of questions, review their medical history and, if necessary, talk with their medical team. All of the information we gather is entered into the Emeritus wE Care computerized system, which generates a comprehensive personalized care plan. The plan outlines the exact services required and the time required to perform the service. Assessments are then given 30 days after move-in and then every six months unless there is a significant change to the resident’s health.
As residents will discover, we do everything possible to help them remain independent for as long as possible. We are here when they need us – but we don’t take over and do everything for them. This philosophy helps residents remain in control over their own lives. In addition, our staff encourages residents to take full advantage of our activities program and to get out and socialize with their neighbors. Our approach to assisted living care provides peace of mind for the resident and his or her family, along with a safety net should residents need assistance.
Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Services
Join Their Journey – the Emeritus memory care program – is a wonderful, compassionate program designed to help each resident have the best day possible. The premise of Join Their Journey is based on joining residents wherever they are in their lives, rather than forcing them into our reality. If a resident says, “I need to get home to see the kids off the bus,” instead of reminding them that their children are grown, we would redirect the conversation, asking them to tell us about their family.
Join Their Journey also enables us to personalize our activities program to each resident’s needs and interests. When the resident moves in, we meet with family members to get the resident’s “life story,” which we post, along with photos, on the resident’s apartment door. Everything – from our activities baskets to life stations – is built around the life story. When a resident is upset or agitated, we might direct them to the basket or life station that is most meaningful to them. There, they can work with familiar items – a workbench with nuts and bolts, a dress-up station, a laundry area – giving them a sense of purpose and helping them stay occupied. We also have a full calendar of daily activities, including an exercise program, trivia games, sing-alongs, scrabble, arts and crafts, pet therapy and musical entertainment. Many Fridays, we take residents on scenic drives around the Auburn area.
