A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
Our residents enjoy free transportation, not only to doctors’ appointments and the grocery store, but to great area events, like the symphony and the community theatre. We customize our activity program to the interests of our residents. Pat Harm, our Business Office Director is our very own pianist who entertains us every Thursday. When you play bingo at NorthPark you are playing for prizes or pennies. Cocktail socials, ice cream socials, Hollywood Nights Socials, Safari Social, tail gate parties are just a few of the many socials we put on throughout the year.
You never sing the blues in January at Emeritus at Northpark Place. We keep you busy with our 3 day cruise that includes activities that you would actually do on a 3 day cruise. For the Captain’s feast Mireya researches actual menus and recipes for the area that you are going to be cruising in so you will really feel like you are on the cruise. Outings are a part of our activity schedule every month. We may be going to the local restaurant, museum, nature center, dairy queen, made grass celebration, community theater etc.
We believe that exercise is one of the major keys to good health. That is why we offer exercise classes 7 days a week. Dixie offers chair yoga and weight lifting exercises, Cynthia offers stretching and toning and Kelly Nashleanas (who is a very well known local exercise instructor for seniors) adds a lot of excitement with her stretch, tone and muscle building classes. Kelly also takes attendance so you might be senior of the month and win some very nice prizes and your picture in our newsletter.
Partnering With the Local Neighborhood Community
Emeritus at Northpark Place has partnered with Life Long Learning and holds many events at Emeritus at Northpark. Some of the classes are Bridge & Chinese checkers. We also host several times a year World cultures and cuisines. This is when we have a guest speaker come in and speak about a country and a luncheon is served that is authentic to that country. Emeritus at NorthPark has a special bond with the children of Hunt school just blocks away. Some of our residents volunteer and read to the children and the children come to Emeritus at NorthPark to plant flowers with the residents, and to entertain us on the major holidays. Several of our residents also volunteer at the Ronald McDonald house across the street from Emeritus at Northpark Place.
