Assisted Living Specializing in Memory Care

"We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do."

This is a simple promise that the staff at Emeritus at Heritage Hills- and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities - has shared since 1998, when our memory care community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful - a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care.

The Perfect Location

Emeritus at Heritage Hills is conveniently located in residential North Columbus just about a mile from I-185 (Veterans Parkway) and just north of Heath Lake Park. The beautiful Columbus Botanical Gardens is literally next door. The Columbus Park Crossing mall is a quick four-minute drive from our community. And Blanchard Elementary School, with which we partner, is just across the street. For those residents who are able, we offer a wide variety of field trips, including outings to Fort Benning and to our local army and naval museums. We also take residents on picnics and fishing, as well as to local baseball and ice hockey games. Residents are also able to enjoy special events at Callaway Gardens, which is located less than an hour away. During the holiday season, for example, we take in Fantasy in Lights. This is the Southeast’s most spectacular holiday light and sound show, with more than 8 million lights.

A Wonderful Selection

Emeritus at Heritage Hills can accommodate 56 residents with 7 private rooms and 26 companion living rooms. Our memory care community was designed specifically for seniors with Alzheimer’s and other memory impairments. Everyone who comes to visit thinks our memory care community is small until they step inside. With wide hallways, carpeting throughout, and beautiful furnishings, Heritage Hills feels just like a spacious home, not like the typical nursing home facility. There are two large dining rooms, two living rooms with fireplaces and televisions, a smaller activities room and an in-house beauty salon, where a beautician is available once a week. For the safety of our residents, we are a secured community, with all of our exits locked. A huge gated backyard with walking trails and an interior courtyard gives residents the opportunity to enjoy the out-of-doors. A staff member always has residents “in their sight” while they are outside, so that they can’t wander beyond our community. By focusing on providing the best quality service in the industry, our community offers many amenities that provide comfort to our residents. By designing our amenities around the specified needs of Alzheimer's residents, we provide plenty of spacious room and a secure community for their safety.

Strong, Caring Professional Relationships

We have excellent relationships with local caregivers and hospitals in order to provide quality care to our residents. A gerontologist comes in once a month to see those residents who are her patients, so that they don’t have to leave our community for ongoing care. For those residents who are unable to care for their feet and toenails, we offer the services of a podiatrist, who visits our community every three months.

Our Staff

Some of our staff members have been with us since we opened in 1998, including our Resident Care Director. In addition, we have a full-time memory care director and dining services director. All of our department managers have gone through an extensive memory care training program offered through Emeritus. In addition, all staff members, including our resident assistants, are required to have 16 hours each year of continuing education in Alzheimer’s and memory care. A nurse is also on-call 24 hours a day.
