A Wonderful Active Lifestyle
Our single-story building was designed to create a real community for our residents. Since we are on just one floor, Emeritus at Orange Parks feels much like home, a warm and inviting place like “grandma’s kitchen” from long ago – a gathering place where residents and staff – some of whom have been here since we opened – truly are part of one big family. Everyone knows each other and greets each other with genuine smiles. We listen to and respect one another, and value each other’s opinions. In fact, it’s our residents, not the staff, who decide where they want to go for outings, how they want to spend their days here at the community and how they want to furnish and decorate their apartments. After all, this is their home – we are simply here to support them, offering care, love and just the right level of assistance to help them maintain their independence and dignity.
We always have a full calendar of activities happening every day, right here at our community. Coffee socials, bingo and crossword puzzles are among resident favorites. Once a week, an outside instructor comes in to lead a yoga class. And of course, we celebrate all of the major holidays, with Christmas parties and Thanksgiving dinners held before the actual holiday so that family members can join us. We also have Family Nights, during which our residents’ loved once join us for dinner. Residents can also partake in our weekly Catholic and Baptist church services.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Our community is active in the local Alzheimer’s Association, whose vision is “A World without Alzheimer’s.” Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, to provide care for the affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Every year, the association sponsors a “Memory Walk,” which has become the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Approximately 20 staff members from our community participate in this event to help raise money for the association.
We partner closely with the community throughout the year. For example, we host an American Red Cross blood drive each year. We hold training classes for Universal Healthcare Group in which we educate seniors on various healthcare insurance options. We also invite members of the Florida Assisted Living Association to in-services once a quarter, during which we discuss a senior-related topic, such as Medicare, Aging in Place or Brain Health.
Fine Dining
Residents enjoy three meals a day, served restaurant style in our main dining room. Our Dining Services Director, who has been with our community for about three years, takes special care to be sure residents with diabetes can still enjoy the occasional sweets without going over their caloric intake. A full hot breakfast with eggs, cereals, toast, bacon and fruit is served every day. A wide variety of snacks, including crackers and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, cottage cheese, fruit and grilled cheese, is available in the dining room between meals.
