"We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do."

This is a simple promise that the staff at Emeritus at Orange Park — and throughout Emeritus assisted living communities — has shared since 1998, when Emeritus at Orange Park first opened. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful — a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to exceed our residents' expectations.

The Perfect Location

Just 15 miles south of downtown Jacksonville, Emeritus at Orange Park offers the best of all worlds. Our community is set in a lovely residential area on a beautifully landscaped site with two covered patios, courtyard and duck pond. Yet, we’re right in the heart of Orange Park, near I-295 and Blanding Blvd. Orange Park Medical Center is just one mile to our west. Several shopping centers, as well as large parks, including Kingsley Park, are close by. Orange Park also offers many quaint shops, great restaurants, country clubs, sightseeing and fishing – and close proximity to Jacksonville Beach. Plus we offer an active Residents Council, which works closely with our Life Enrichment Director, giving residents a voice in all decisions relating to community life.

Every Tuesday, we take residents out for lunch at one of the local favorites, such as Sam’s Saint John Seafood, the Olive Garden or Ale House. Of course, if residents want to try something entirely new, we go wherever they decide as much as possible. We also take them to local shopping centers, including Oak Leaf Town Center and every Friday, we go to Wal-Mart – definitely one of our most popular outings. Residents always enjoy picnics and walks in Kingsley Park. On Mondays and Thursdays, we take them to their doctors’ appointments. We also occasionally take trips into Jacksonville to see the Jacksonville Suns baseball team. No matter what activity is offered, it has the blessing of the Residents Council. The council works closely with our Life Enrichment Director, providing ideas, suggestions and feedback that guide us in the planning of all events, activities and off-site excursions.

A Wonderful Selection

Emeritus at Orange Park offers 64 apartments – 54 for assisted living residents and 10 in our memory care neighborhood. Our 337-square-feet assisted living apartments are all one-bedroom units. Each offers a handicapped accessible bathroom, large living area and large windows with lovely views of our exterior courtyard and duck pond. Residents are welcome to bring in their own refrigerator and microwave – as well as their own furniture if they choose. They can also ask us to paint the walls a specific color, and of course, they can decorate their apartments anyway they wish. All of our apartments surround a courtyard with a gazebo for enjoying the out-of-doors.

Our library is a favorite place for relaxation and conversation, offering many books, a television and views of our pond. There is also a spacious sitting area in the entry with books, main dining room and a TV room, where we hold movie nights every Monday evening. Our activities room includes a kitchen area and several tables, where residents often join together to play games or to do crossword puzzles. We have an in-house beauty salon/barber shop open Mondays and Thursdays. Our community also offers two covered patios with grills for residents and their families to enjoy cook-outs.

Strong, Caring Professional Relationships

The Westin Group provides the full range of occupational, physical and speech therapy residents may need, right here on site in a separate private area. The goal of the therapists is to make the transition into our community for new residents as effortless as possible and to make sure the changing needs of all residents are addressed. If they see a resident having trouble with walking, they will be proactive, recommending different techniques that will help the resident overcome their difficulties. We also have three different physicians who provide care in the privacy of the resident’s apartment. Two of our doctors come once a month, and a third comes every week. A podiatrist also makes monthly visits to our community. Residents don’t have to make appointments; we simply provide the visiting physician with a list of residents who need to be seen. Our community also partners with four different skilled nursing facilities in the area. Whenever a resident is away from home receiving rehabilitation, we keep track of the resident’s progress and visit on a regular basis. Should anyone need to be hospitalized, Orange Park Medical Center and Baptist South are both nearby.

Our Staff

Our 45-member team includes Resident Assistants, who provide for the majority of the resident’s daily care needs; a Dining Services Director and Dietary staff; housekeepers; and several managers, including Community Relations Director, Executive Director, Memory Care Director, Business Office Director, Life Enrichment Director and Resident Care Director, who is a Licensed Practical Nurse. Our turnover is very low among staff; for example, some of our Resident Assistants have been here for 10 years. Come by for a visit, and you’ll quickly see that this is not just a job; our staff truly love what they do and love the wonderful residents we are honored to have in our care.
