Stroke Caregiving

Caring for Someone with Stroke

Caring for someone who has had a stroke can be stressful. Be sure to look out for your own needs. Don't be afraid to ask for help. If family and friends are not available, there are often community resources.[21] Such services may include:

  • Adult day care

  • Someone to run errands or stay at home with someone for short periods of time

  • Longer-term companion services

  • Housekeeping services

  • Personal care including bathing, dressing, toileting and exercise

  • Skilled nursing care to administer medicine or therapy
