If you are having significant memory problems, you should consult your doctor. After a physical exam, he or she can perform a screening containing basic questions regarding memory to decide if the problem is normal or requires further investigation. He or she may also want to perform other tests such as a PET scan to look for changes in the brain that may indicate cognitive impairment or even dementia.
