Palliative care, also called hospice care, refers to care provided in place of a cure. The medical or comfort care provided may slow a disease's progress or reduce its severity. An example of palliative care can be found when radiation on a tumor is performed to reduce its rate of growth instead of removing the tumor by surgery.[1]
