"We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do."
This is a simple promise that the staff at Emeritus at Woodbridge - and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities - has shared since 1999, when our community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful - a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our retirees who have chosen our senior living community for its active lifestyle.
The Perfect Location
Emeritus at Woodbridge is conveniently located right off the historic Merritt Parkway in Southern Connecticut. We are close to the city of New Haven, yet far enough away to savor the peace and quiet of Woodbridge. Our senior living community is set on acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with two courtyards, lovely gardens and walking paths. Our community is located high on a hill in the foothills of the Woodbridge countryside, overlooking beautiful West Rock. It is a quiet, peaceful country setting; however, we are located only minutes away from New Haven. Our proximity to Yale New Haven Hospital, the Hospital of Saint Raphael and some of the best doctors in the country offer peace of mind to our residents, in the event doctors’ services are required.
Throughout the year, we take advantage of all that our beautiful state of Connecticut has to offer. We take many day trips and scenic drives: country farms for homemade ice cream, vineyards for wine tasting, local orchards for fruit picking, country roads for fall leaf peeping, and the beaches for seafood lunches. We enjoy it all!
A Wonderful Selection
The majority of our assisted living residents live in lovely studio apartments. Our studios are spacious and bright, and have beautiful views of woodlands, courtyards or West Rock. We also offer a limited amount of one-bedroom apartments. All of our units have individual climate controls, large walk-in closets, storage/linen closets, kitchenettes and spacious bathrooms with many safety features for peace of mind.
Emeritus at Woodbridge is a warm, inviting community. We have a large porch running along the front of our community, and residents are able to relax in comfortable rocking chairs, and enjoy the lovely view of West Rock. Our landscaping is colorful and abundant. As soon as you walk in the front door, you can feel our welcoming atmosphere. The majority of our common areas are located on the first floor. The dining room opens to the living room and library, and residents congregate in this area before and after meals, and for musical performances as well. There is a large screen television, a library, and a quiet screened porch which overlooks a peaceful courtyard. Our game room, with a professional poker table and television is located on our second floor, and our movie theatre lounge is on the third floor. Our community has 136 assisted living senior apartments. Our memory care neighborhood is located on the first floor, and has 24 rooms with a private, secured garden, and separate dining and activity areas as well.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
We have an excellent relationship with multiple home care providers, including hospice care. Home care adds another level of care when skilled nursing or physical therapy is needed. We have a geriatric psychologist and social worker visit our community every two weeks, and a podiatrist makes visits as well. We also use Quest Home Draw for convenient lab work. We have many highly respected primary care physicians and dentists less than 5 minutes from our community, who are all very responsive to the care needs of our residents. We also nurture strong relationships with area hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers so that we can provide a seamless continuum of care for our residents.
Our Staff
At Emeritus at Woodbridge, we are proud of the longevity of our staff. More than 75 percent of our staff has been with us for more than five years. Our management team is comprised of professionals that have tenures as long as nine years at our community. We are very selective in our hiring process, and as a result, we have a superb team that is dedicated to the care and needs or our residents.
We offer exceptional care in both assisted living and memory care. Our director of nursing has more than 30 years of nursing experience. In 2009, she was awarded the CALA (Connecticut Assisted Living Association) award for excellence. In 2008, our assistant resident care director, was awarded by CALA for outstanding service and care for all residents and their families. She has more than 13 years experience in home care, and has been the R.N. designee for five years.
