Tracy, California Senior Living Community

A Wonderful Active Lifestyle

Here at Heritage Place, we take the Emeritus pledge, “Our family is committed to yours,” to heart. In fact, visitors often comment on how low-keyed, comfortable and family oriented our senior living community is. It’s not surprising! Most of our families are very involved with their loved ones. They participate in many of our social events and even our fund-raisers, such as a recent yard sale we had in partnership with our local Rotary Club. Our families join us for Happy Hour every Friday, during which we have some kind of musical entertainment. On Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays, we always invite family and friends. We also offer a support group for the families of our residents with Alzheimer’s and other memory impairments. Just as our residents and staff are part of the Heritage Place family, so are their loved ones. We welcome them with open arms! Heritage Place is also a community of diversity, with several different languages – Spanish, French, Creole and Pilipino – spoken here.

Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community

Emeritus at Heritage Place is a vital member of the Tracy community and participates in many local events throughout the year. We take residents to the annual Fourth of July parade and to our Christmas lighting celebration, among other local festivities. We are also very active with the Lolli Hansen Senior Center. Our van takes residents to the center three times a week to enjoy various activities, attend special events such as a recent fashion show, to play bingo and do arts and crafts. We have also donated birthday cakes, pies and cookies to our friends at the center, and often our residents volunteer, serving food at a birthday party or managing a bingo game, for example.
In addition, Emeritus at Heritage Place is part of the Sutter Tracy Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of Sutter Tracy Community Hospital. As a partner, we support their various fundraising events, which includes sponsoring the annual Silver Bells Tea Party, which is held at our community. The money raised goes to support the unmet needs of the hospital.

We are fortunate to have various groups and outside volunteers come into our senior living community. For example, a bridge group from Tracy plays bridge and bingo with our seniors. A local woman comes in to reminisce with residents – a simple activity, but one that lifts their spirits. We host a weekly business meeting at our community for local business owners. And St. Bernard Church gives communion and leads church services on Fridays. In addition, a pastor from our local Baptist church leads Bible study on Mondays. We also sponsor a support group for family members of our Alzheimer’s residents, held every other month. And every year, we participate in the annual Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk to raise money for Alzheimer’s research.

Fine Dining

Three meals a day, which are included in the monthly rent, are served restaurant style on fine china. Breakfast features a wide variety of choices, including eggs of the day (omelets may be on the menu one day, scrambled eggs the next), sausage or bacon, all kinds of hot and cold cereals, French toast or pancakes, cinnamon rolls, fruits and yogurt. Lunch is our main meal of the day. Residents are always provided two entrée choices, as well as lighter fare, such as sandwiches, soups or a fruit and vegetable platter. Variety is always on the menu! From pasta dishes and gourmet chicken dishes, to baked fish and roast pork, the selections constantly change. Dinner offers a lighter entrée, sandwiches, soups and salads. Our Dining Services Director, who has been with Heritage Place for more than seven years, is very passionate about cooking. She occasionally surveys residents to find out what they like or what they’d like to see changed. Thanks to her skills and commitment to making sure residents are satisfied, our food is great! In fact, it’s so good, our staff loves to join residents for meals. We can also accommodate special diets, from low salt and low sugar to carb-controlled for our diabetic residents. Snacks, including coffee, juice, tea, muffins, fruit and cookies, are available for all residents in our two Bistro rooms. And we have a private dining room for residents to share special occasions with friends and family.
