Stockton, California Retirement Community

Programs & Services Offered:

Retirement Living, Assisted Living, Alzheimer's and Memory Care, Short Stay / Respite Care, On-Site Rehabilitation

We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than the best will do.

This is a simple promise that the staff at Emeritus at Fulton Villa - and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities - has shared since 1993, when our community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our residents who have chosen our retirement community for its active lifestyle.

The Perfect Location

Emeritus at Fulton Villa is located in a residential section area of Stockton, surrounded by beautiful Victorian style homes, with Oak Park and Oak Park Senior Center just across the street. Yet shopping abounds! Our community is close to the Webbertown and Sherwood Mall, Miracle Mile and numerous other shopping centers. Several medical facilities are also nearby, including St Joseph's Medical Center, Dameron Hospital, Kaiser Permanente and a nursing home rehabilitation facility if ever needed. We also are equidistant to Route 99 and I-5, giving us easy access to the wine country of Northern California, as well as to San Francisco and Sacramento.

Stockton is centrally located, just about 90 minutes south of Sacramento and about the same distance west of the Bay Area. In the comfort of our luxury, air-conditioned and handicapped-accessible van, we take occasional trips into San Francisco, where residents particularly enjoy watching all of the goings-on at Pieer 39. Every fall, we take them to the San Francisco Fleet Week, which is held to honor the dedication of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. The Blue Angels Air Show, Parade of Ships, firework displays, Marine Band concerts and special exhibits are all part of Fleet Week. Heading north, we take residents to Old Sacramento for lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack, shopping and to the California State Railroad Museum, which features lavishly restored trains, special events and rides behind a real steam locomotive. Less than two hours away is Jackson Casino, where residents spend the entire day playing its 49 gaming tables, 9 Poker tables over 1,500 slot and video poker machines, as well as enjoy a lunch buffet at the Raging River Restaurant. Closer to home, residents spend beautiful summer evenings listening to bands at Victory Park. We also take them on weekly shopping outings to one of our several local malls, as well as to Wal-Mart, the Dollar Store and to local fairs and festivals. Our resident council chooses many of our off-site excursions, including which restaurants they want to go toexperience for our twice monthly lunches outings or which plays they’d like to see at the local Stockton Theater. Our memory care residents enjoy rides through downtown Stockton, as well as scenic drives into the wine country, with stops for lunch at a local fast food restaurant, and “Starbucks rides” for free hot chocolate.

A Wonderful Selection

Our newly remodeled two-story retirement community offers 79 senior apartments, including 351-square foot studios and 514-square-foot one-bedroom units. Each apartment includes a kitchenette with mini refrigerator and sink, a wheelchair-accessible bath with step-in tub and handrails, wall-to-wall carpeting and cable. Some apartments have views of Oak Park, while others look out onto the surrounding residential neighborhood. All apartments are freshly painted before the resident moves in; we offer a choice of three accent colors that residents can select to personalize the apartment. They can alsoResidents are encouraged to bring in all of their own furniture and decorate any way they wish. And for residents who want to share an apartment for companionship or to save on rent, we offer a “Friendship Suite” option. Memory care residents are also welcome to share an apartment, an especially attractive option for those individuals who might tend to isolate in their rooms.

Our community offers several common areas, including a large lobby decorated in warm golds and blue tones and with fresh flowers always on hand. Our bright and spacious dining room also features an activities area with a fireplace, piano, large-screen television and big couches, where residents always gather to watch their beloved San Francisco Giants. Right off of our dining room is our beauty salon, which is open once a week. In addition, residents are welcome to bring in their own beauticians to use the space. We also offer a private dining room that seats 10, giving families a place to enjoy birthdays, anniversaries or private holiday celebrations. A kitchenette is also available for their use. Directly off of the dining area are French doors leading onto our large secured courtyard. During nicer weather, we hold Happy Hour here and occasionally, we bring in local musicians for our Jazz in the Courtyard performances. On the second floor, our Garden Room is set up for games and is decorated with framed puzzles that residents have done over the years. Our library is also located here.

Strong, Caring Professional Relationships

Stockton offers several hospitals, skilled nursing homes and rehabilitation centers with which we partner, including Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Gould Medical Foundation, St. Joseph's Hospital, Dameron Hospital, Valley Gardens Care and Rehabilitation and Windsor Hampton Center and Rehabilitation. We also work closely with Gentiva, which provides physical, occupational and speech therapy on site, Monday through Friday. They can provide services in the resident’s apartment or in the common areas as necessary. We are also one of the only Emeritus communities that is part of the Assisted Living Waiver Program, a Medi-Cal program that provides for assisted living, care coordination and other specified benefits to eligible seniors and persons with disabilities who reside in Sacramento County. If a family is running out of money and qualifies for Medi-Cal, we can help get them into the program, which covers part of their monthly rent. Those of our family members who have been able to take advantage of this program describe it as a “light at the end of the tunnel,” especially if they are worrying about mom or dad outliving their retirement funds. We also work with EmeriVets AmeriVets to help our veteran residents receive the benefits to which they are entitled.

Our Staff

Our 70 member staff includes an Executive Director, Community Relations Director, Life Enrichment Director, Dining Services Director, Business Office Director, Maintenance Director and Resident Care Director, who is also a registered nurse. We also have a team of dedicated memory care experts, who provide services to our resident with memory impairments. They receive continuous education on dementia-related behaviors and Join Their Journey in-house training. Our residents often tell us how caring and friendly our staff is and that their caregivers go above and beyond to help them – without being told asked to do so. Part of this comes from the fact that many of our staff members have been with us for several years and consider this their home as well.
