Brea, California Assisted Living Community

Assisted Living Services

Before a new resident moves in, we meet with the resident and as appropriate, his or her family to learn as much about their routines and health concerns as possible. Our goal is to make our newest residents feel welcome and at home even if it means refurbishing an apartment to accommodate his or her needs. Our Life Enrichment Director meets with the resident to talk to them about their hobbies, and then works diligently to incorporate into the schedule a specific activity of interest to the new resident.

We also do a thorough assessment in their current home – or medical facility if they are moving here from a hospital or skilled nursing facility – to evaluate their needs and create an individualized care plan just for them. Once the resident moves in, we re-assess their needs 30 days later. We find that some residents coming from skilled nursing will get stronger once they move in, allowing us to decrease the level of services required. We also see improvements in residents moving here from living in their own home, where they may have felt isolated and lonely or not eating right – maybe even not taking their medications properly. (We have a staff of Med Techs who are responsible for distributing medications to residents.)

Whatever reason they have chosen Emeritus at Brea, we believe we are guests in the residents’ home and are here to serve them. At the same time, we do everything possible to promote independence, encouraging residents to do what they can for themselves. With this philosophy of care, many of our residents truly blossom when they come into our assisted living community.
