"We have promised ourselves that we shall always treat our residents as we would our own loved ones. Nothing less than our best will do."
This is a simple promise that the staff at Emeritus at Willow Brook and throughout Emeritus Senior Living communities; has shared since 1991, when our retirement community first opened its doors. It's a simple promise to be compassionate and kind, understanding and respectful; a promise to become extended family to the seniors entrusted in our care and to our retirees who have chosen our community for its active lifestyle.
The Perfect Location
Fort Smith is a small city of 85,000 people located in a beautiful valley through which the Arkansas River runs. We are surrounded by mountains – the Ozark National Forest is just to our north, and the Ouachita National Forest is to our south. Our retirement community is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in the heart of Fort Smith, just off I-540. We’re within walking distance of the Central Mall Shopping Center. Two major hospitals – St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center and Sparks Regional Medical Center – are both conveniently located within a few miles of our community.
Touring Mount Magazine State Park and the lodge – a 45-minute drive from our community – is a favorite with residents. We also take residents to Fort Smith’s landmark park – Creekmore Park – located just about one mile from us. Residents also love to visit our local Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market and enjoy meals out at any one of several nearby restaurants, including Red Lobster, Chiles and Outback Steak House. In addition, we take residents to volleyball, baseball and basketball games, as well as to concerts and theater performances held at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith – just a few blocks north of our community.
A Wonderful Selection
Our three-story retirement community offers 91 spacious apartments, including studios, one- bedroom and two-bedroom configurations. Each senior apartment features an open floor plan, large windows, and a full kitchen with stove and refrigerator. Our wide hallways easily accommodate motorized wheelchairs. The units in the back of our building have views of our courtyard, while many others look out onto a wooden area.
Our beautiful, spacious dining room features high ceilings and overhead fans. In addition, should residents wish to share a special meal with family or friends, they have full access to our private dining room. The “Razorback” room, decorated in honor of the University of Arkansas sports teams, is used for playing games, cards and dominos and for watching television. Our community also features a large living room, which we call our family room, complete with a baby grand piano, flat-screen TV and working fireplace. With its ample seating, the family room is often where we host special events. Our lobby also offers a welcome area with seating, so that residents are comfortable while waiting for family and friends. Our beauty salon is open most days and for the additional convenience of residents, we also offer “bank day,” in which one of our local banks comes to our community once a week to handle residents’ routine banking needs.
Strong, Caring Professional Relationships
Our retirement community partners with Mid South Rehab Services, which comes here every day, Monday through Friday, to provide onsite physical, occupational and speech therapy. Its staff is experienced in caring for all areas of rehabilitation, including medical problems, such as low back pain and arthritis; neurological problems; wound care; surgical problems, such as recovery from a fracture or knee replacement; balance issues; speech therapy, including helping residents with swallowing difficulties; hearing problems; and Alzheimer’s Care. Therapy services are provided in a dedicated area, where residents are welcome to use the treadmills, weights, stationary bikes, balance bars and other equipment anytime during the day, as long as a rehab therapist is available onsite.
Our Staff
Emeritus at Willow Brook’s dedicated staff includes a Dining Services Director, Resident Services Director, Memory Care Director, Business Director, Activities Director, Executive Director and Community Relations Director, as well as several Resident Assistants, most of who are Certified Nursing Assistants. Just like our wonderful community of residents, our team members are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. And all staff members are trained in CPR.
